St Lucia VS 31 July 15
OLCI at t minus 2400 only managing Seq 4 travelling in PE so was expecting to have been allocated seats and be unable to change them as others have experienced during the re-fit of the LGW fleet, much to my pleasant surprise 1 we were on one of the refurbished planes (turned out to be G-VROM Barberella) and 2 we were able to select seats ourselves.
We were travelling with my mother who is disabled so we selected downstairs seats 15 H and K for my wife and I and 14 H and K (allocated at twilight check in) for Mum and Dad, the bulkhead seats 14 had more than enough room for my mother to stretch her bad leg.

Boarding was quick possibly due to a reasonably light load, pushed back on a few minutes early for a nice smooth take off.

The new LHR style PE cabin is very comfortable and didn't feel cramped like some people had speculated it may, the lower deck PE cabin was little over half full

The food service was good but you had to like mushrooms which luckily I do, the drinks trolley came around often at the beginning of the flight up to the meal service, I enjoyed a few glasses of the La Fontaine Shiraz and the wife enjoyed the Baileys.

Very friendly crew.

JAM IFE is a great improvement however my travelling companions described as not completely user friendly however I found the flight map and just left it at that as usual.

An on time arrival through immigration quickly then on to the Helicopter transfer.

All in all a great flight.

Thanks for the TR, particularly from the new PE offering on this route. Hoping for a refurb next Friday, but not holding my breath :D

Helicopter transfer eh? Very posh. I look on the taxi ride as part of the experience... :w

I have two days left on the beach before heading home on Sunday and straight back towork on monday night for a very busy week building up to the olympics, I'm hoping for a refurb for the return leg too but not holding my breath.

Having taken a Taxi from UVF to Reduit beach on a previous visit I decided on the heavily discounted Helicopter transfer offered by Virgin Holidays (about £50 pp) I thoroughly recommend it, as it offers great views of the island and we were on the beach by 1500 hrs.

Return TR to follow.
