We arrived at LHR T3 slightly early and immediately found the PE check in and bag drop desks. There was absolutely no queue at all and so it all went very smoothly until we were asked to put our hand luggage on the scales, my bag was 7kg-1kg over the limit, but the friendly lady behind the desk said it was no problem! I glanced at my ticket and found that I had been allocated seat 21 H which was no where near we had remembered choosing our seats on the online map for the Airbus a340-600.We proceeded through airport security which was surprisingly hassle-free and killed some time in the great selction of shops in Heathrow T3! Our flight was called and we proceeded to our gate. When we arrived , to my surprise, I saw one of the new a330-300 planes that Virgin was rolling out. We went through to the separate queue for UC and PE customers and I asked the man if any seats were re-jiggled because of the different plane. He said that this had happened, yes , and this cleared up my confusion. I then asked when the new plane was commissioned and he said that it only had done 5 flights!!!! We boarded very quickly and efficiently and we found our seats. I immediately noticed the new JAM entertainment system with the touch screen console. I sat down and had some orange juice and then was told by the cabin crew over the intercom that this was a brand new plane ect... and that you could use mobile phones which had not heard was possible with the new a330-300. I had a pleasant flight , there were plenty of films and tv shows to choose and the touch screen and laptop charger points were a big bonus. We arrived in NY after only 6 hours but had to wait for a Singapore Airlines 747 to get off our stand because we had arrived so early. We rushed through to the immigration hall and found that we hd entered from the right of the hall which had a very small queue for visitors compared to the left side of the hall, we were through in about 15 minutes!!! We got our luggage which came through very quickly and went straight into a taxi and into the big city!!
