Our car arrived at 0600 for our transfer to LHR, I think we were the first people to arrive at DTCI today at 0631, this is the first time I have used DTCI (a nice touch I think) we then breezed through the private security channel.
A little Duty Free shopping then into the Clubhouse for Coffee and Breakfast, we both secured a treatment my wife having a massage and the usual shave for me, a Mojito on order with the Malaysian Grand Prix on above the bar.
With all this lousy weather I can’t wait to get to LA.
Boarding call at 1100 we make our way to Gate 16 where G-VBIG (Tinkerbelle) awaits, welcomed onboard and Champagne accepted we settled down in our UCSs 12 A+K when traveling as a couple we prefer the very front of a 744 as we can be close enough to talk to each other.
We pushed back about 15 minutes late and were promised it would be made up during the flight.
After takeoff the FSM introduced herself and acknowledged our AU status (first time for us), drinks and snacks offered and accepted Mrs H went for a couple of Gin Kisses whilst I had a few glasses of the French Red “Wine Pietas Old Vines Selection” which was quite nice.
For the meal service Mrs H had the Smoked Duck followed by the Roast Chicken Breast and the Chocolate Shortbread, I went for the Carrot Soup, Roast Chicken Breast and the Bread and Butter Pudding, we both really enjoyed our meals (no Mushrooms in sight either).
The Crew taking care of Upper Class were great making sure that we had enough to eat and drink.
The Suites were in good condition and comfy, IFE seemed to be working OK for Mrs H although I only watch the Sky map.
I enjoyed a few glasses of wine at the bar chatting to the crew and fellow passengers before catching a couple of hours sleep waking up in time to see the Las Vegas strip to the right of us, I had a quick cup of coffee before we made our approach to LAX.
We landed ahead of schedule and were quickly through immigration, I suspect it would have been a long wait for those traveling further back down the plane as there were only three CBP desks open, baggage arrived fairly quickly to the carousel and then we were through customs to the arrivals hall where we were greeted by our friends for our hop to Anaheim.
All in all another great Virgin experience, with a great crew.
Meanwhile the temperature is in the mid to high twenties over here and Mrs H and I spent yesterday cycling along the beach and around Santa Monica on the beach cruiser bikes we had hired for the day
