So after a wonderful cruise around the Eastern Caribbean on the Carnival Dream it was time to think about home and the creative way to do it I had organised........ ):

So arrived very early at MCO and after a coffee and a walk around, it was time to drop off the bags. The check in agent checked that I was travelling First class, the damn cheek of it and quickly apologised and then checked me in without any fuss or anymore wise cracks...in fact she could not have been nicer........ :D

So through the sort of fast track line where you wait while a TSA employee manages too lines....the guy though friendly seemed to have a thing for people in the fast track lane as he really didn't give any priority.

After that I was quickly through and waited by Gate 112. "Air VH1" arrived at 1615 from LAX so was early and they quickly got things organised. I was called to the gate desk and asked if would switch seats so two people could sit together......I happily obliged and was thanked for the two people concerned later on which was nice.

Boarding began at 1700 which was a little late but some "extra" cleaning had to be completed. The flight was full and settled into 2F which actually as a good seat. The huge white leather seats have great legroom and a pre-take off sparkling wine, orange juice or water was offered with refills too...... y)

In the final stages of boarding the cool air-conditioned air was meeting with the warm Florida air and we had a misty situation.....some people were concerned and the captain came on to explain to those unaware what was happening and not worry and that it was perfectly safe and would not affect anyone's health......... ii)

Doors closed and the usual greeting from the captain at the front of the cabin advising a flight time of 5hrs1min.

The fun funky safety video or the up close and personal version in First class and wheels were up at 1738.

Blankets and pillows were handed out followed by menus and drink orders were taken. The cabin crew were the same crew who had brought in the inbound flight, though a long day it allows them to have two clear days off so the said......the long day also seemed to take its toll though perfectly fine, they were not as jolly as normal I thought.

Drinks dispatched with two little plastic pots of beans and chick peas which were tasty. The main courses were steak chimichurri with white rice and veggies and was a huge piece of steak and delicious it was too. The other choice was black pepper fettuccini.

Warm bread was also served followed by dessert of Chocolate and raspberry cookies which were divine oo)

Settled back to watch two movies on the fantastic red system and throughout the flight drinks were regularly offered with several passes of the snack tray of crisps, cookies, nuts and other treats.

The flight was exceptionally bumpy in places with the cabin crew were asked to take their seats a couple of times.

With everyone strapped in we touched down at LAX at 1938 and we were at the gate a couple of minutes later. The bags were delayed as several flights arrived at more or less the same time and I walked out into the cool LA air to catch the shuttle to the hotel.

In summary, yet another fantastic Virgin America experience y)

Sounds like a fab flight again Jon, we have done a couple LAX-MCO with Virgin America in first and had the same great service as you.

Hope your journey continues to be great :)

Jon

Thanks for the TR y) y)

Your report confirms to me that VX are still trying hard to keep the fun in flying (acknowledging that your particular crew were on their second leg) and all credit to them that that sense of enthusiasm comes through.

All being well, in a couple of weeks time, I will once again have the delights of travelling VX and be able to see for myself ;) Of course choosing Row 2 this time around

Interesting Buns, why row 2? We've sat in 1 for our flights - am I missing something good ? lol

Having a previous experience where a fellow V Flyer decided to kick the back of my seat when in Row 1 saying "are we there yet dad" confirmed the wisdom that Row 2 has its benefits :D :D

I have sat in both row 1 & 2 over several flights and agree entirely with Buns that row 2 is best.......I also noticed on this flight the menu choices were first taken in row 2.....it might have been a one off but did make me wonder if fairer way of ensuring everyone gets a chance to have their first choice, rather than always starting with row 1 :D

Sounds like a great flight. I nearly tried this option when coming home but had to settle for MCO - EWR on united ( which will be fun - not )

Wish they would fly from JFK or EWR down to MCO. It would make for some fabulous options when coming across from the uk.

Thanks for TR

JetBlue aren't entirely disimilar to Virgin America, and they offer a myriad of options on this route. They also have an interline agreement with VS so can be bought as a single ticket.

The forthcoming JV with Delta should also open up a number of options for connectivity in the US.

Sadly not, now that would be a good partner to have.....but VX I am sure with one foot in the door at EWR and doing well out of JFK by all accounts, would also like to fly down to MCO.....you never know ):

Yes I will Jon ,I need 7 TP,s to reach gold so I was thinking of a jaunt to Vancouver as that is the cheapest UC fares at the moment and maybe a hop to San Fran ,do vx do that route ?

Take the train down to Seattle and then VX from there to SFO or LAX.

I flew VX within a year of their start-up and I'm glad they have retained their fun and funkiness! y)
