Heathrow ch

This was my 3rd virgin flight and have now travelled in all of the cabins, this flight was my first time in UC. As you can guess I was very excited! This is also my first on an airbus A340-600 aircraft.

We checked in online the night before and got seq.7+8+9, we were not impressed!

To start off the trip we were dropped off at the DTCI in our CDC (I.e. dad’s friend Gavin!) As we left home at 12:30 we were hoping to be at Heathrow at 1:30 however with all the traffic on the m25 we didn't get to the DTCI until 2:40pm! This means we sat in the traffic moving extremely slowly for about 2 hours! Dad was not happy as he was hoping for at least 6 hours in the CH!

We finally arrived and we were checked in in less than 5 minutes, then we headed down to the private security channel where we found a little bit of a queue. Anyway we were still through quickly. Then we took a quick walk to the CH.
As soon as we got into the CH we booked some treatments for me and my sister, I had. Ever been in the CH before so I was very excited!
Then we went to sit down and took a look at the lunch menu, everyone choose the CH burger. The staffs were so good in the CH, our burgers acme in minutes of ordering them. The burger was very tasty indeed! Although it was a bit too big for me, so unfortunately I couldn't finish it!!

After we ate our burgers went up to the roof terrace to have a look at the planes, we could only see three virgin planes. Whilst we waited for our treatments we played some computer games as well as going up to the roof terrace a few times! The time went quickly and we were having our nails done at 4:15. The staff were very nice and welcoming, just what you would expect. I got bright pink as I was too young to have a proper treatment! My nails didn't take long, so I went over to see dad in the section behind the bar ( surprised he wasn't at the bar!) and then back to my sister to see how her nails were, before too long she was done and we went up to the terrace where they dried a bit quicker!

After that we walked down to the terminal to get some plug adaptors as we forgot to bring some. We didn't want to take long in the terminal as we prefer the CH by miles! Next we spent a bit of time playing pool; I wasn't too good as I lost! We then sat around for a bit and relaxed. For a final time we then went up to see the planes once more, I find this quite interesting! My sister and I then had great ice-creams, I had strawberry, and on the other hand my dad had the Caesar salad. Which I think he must have had in every place he's been since St Lucia! After about 15 minutes our flight hadn't been called in the CH, however we decided to go anyway as dad isn't a quick walker!

We used the flescaletors (flat escalators) to get to gate 36; it was a long walk for me! Finally we got there and queued for about 10 minutes at the most then we were through and waited in the air bridge to board the plane! By now Emily and I were very excited, even dad was! We then saw a policeman walking down the air bridge, there was only one so we knew it was very serious! It turned out to be a security breech! After 10 minutes we were boarding the plane, we had seats 4, 5 and 6k which were very nice!

Dad had been in UC a few times however me and Emily hadn't so we were a bit fidgety! However soon we settled down and an air hostess came round with drinks, obviously I wasn't aloud champagne so I had the orange instead. First we taxied for a little while, which I didn't mind as the IFE was good. We took off at about 8:30, it was a smooth take off, and we were up fairly quickly. The flight time was announced as 7:15 minutes, more time in UC the better! Just after take-off I started to watch Miranda!!! That kept me laughing! after a while after the seatbelt sign went off, drinks and crisps were offered around, I had lemonade. Then I began to watch Miranda, it didn't last long so I think VS should have more than one episode of everything because if you like it you want to watch more! After Miranda had finished I played on my iPad for a bit.

Soon after that they came round for the dinner orders; I ordered the chicken as I'm not too keen on beef! The CC were very friendly and efficient on the flight. The food was very nice compared to what you get on other planes! It was also quickly served. It came with new potatoes and broccoli, however the broccoli was a bit cold, and cold broccolis aren’t the best! Quickly after I had finished the chicken my sticky toffee pudding came! Even though it was delicious it was also VERY sickly!

After the CC came to clear away my food, one member of staff showed me how to flip my chair down into my bed. I had done this a few times as I found it very fascinating!! When I had my duvet and pillow out I lay down and fell asleep quite fast! During my sleep I was told we had quite a lot of turbulence, it wasn't big enough to wake me up though! I was asleep for just over 3 hours so when I woke up I lay down for about 5 minutes then we went to the bar! Most of the people in the cabin were still asleep so we tried to be quiet! Emily and i had a few cokes, whilst dad had..... Beer! We had a chat with the ladies who were behind the bar, they were very friendly and kind, they let us go behind the bar and have a photo with them. After, I had a delicious hamburger! There was a little bit of turbulance but not much.

After a while we went back to our seats for 5 minutes then me and Emily walked to the end of the plane and back, all the way through PE & ECO. The whole plane was about 2/3 full, so there were quite a few spare seats. Half an hour had past and the seatbelt sign had gone on. The CC came round with sweets for landing, they were the love hearts however I didn't use them, I ate them in the hotel room! Then we began the descent into New York, it was really good as it was night so lights were everywhere and it looked so pretty! My ears didn't pop as much as usual. We went down gradually, soon we were down and although it was a bit bumpy that is the runways fault!

Overall the UC experience was very special and amazing! I loved the CH and the cabin. The staff are awesome as VS and flying is great!!

Thank you for your TR, pleased you enjoyed the UC experience. I guess I am 40+ years older than you & am pleased that after many UC flights I still get excited about the prospect of the next one.

What an awesome TR No.1 Flyer y) y)

Glad that UC lived up to expectation although for Blacky1's benefit I hope that no 'tempting' UC sales wander along any time soon :P

It was really good meeting you guys in NYC and hope that you all had an awesome trip.

Cheers and look forward to reading a TR for the return 8D

I don't know, kids these days, in my teenage years a caravan in Morecambe was considered exotic... :D

Great TR, I hope you had a great time in NYC and you didn't make your Dad queue for Abercrombie and Fitch..

Great TR, a real insight to how younger V-Flyers interpret service and priorities y) Not sure how Blacky coped with a little less time in the CH, then I realised he made up for it by meeting Joey for lunch ):

Thanks for posting y)
