After another fantastic time in NYC showing my two eldest the sights and meeting up with joeyc for lunch and a few beers (great to meet you joey) it was time to head back ,as some of you may recall I was travelling back in PE on an H fare and was keen to upgrade so the last couple of days were spent checking flightstats when I could to see if there was UC seats still available .
Arrived about 5.45 am at the airport and went straight to the ticket support desk and was looked after by a lovely lady who couldn't have been more help and gave me the thumbs up literally when she was on the phone to the flying club to have my miles deducted .
So 245 dollars and 30000 miles lighter we had 3 upgrades to UC sorted ,fair to say my kids were happy !
Got to the clubhouse about 6.30 am and had a bit of breakfast ,not as good as heathrow though, very strange baked beans ,didn't have long in there as we were called about 7.20 am .
Settled in to 12/14/15 k and had to wait a while as a lot of planes in front of us but got up eventually and that is when the cc and FSM really started to shine .
I don't say this lightly but it really was the best flight I have had with virgin or anyone for that matter.
Only had a banana for breakfast as had already eaten ,dinner was good but the highlight was chatting to the FSM for quite a while at the bar while consuming red wine.
I'm pretty sure most regular flyers on here must have flown with her before as she has been with VS for 25 years and had some wonderful stories to tell,we chatted about holidays and she even went and got her laptop out to show me her holiday photos from a safari in South Africa a couple of years ago ,she really was a joy to talk to and other cc would stop and chat now and then aswell .
The flight went really quickly and soon we were landing .we were through really quick and Gavin the chauffeur was waiting to take us home .
All in all a wonderful flight that with a fantastic FSM and CC who genuinely enjoyed their job providing a great service that will keep me coming back to virgin for years to come

Good to meet you too Blacky. Glad you guys had an awesome time in the city and a great flight back home.

Onto this baked beans issue..... yes the US baked beans are different to the UK ones and most Americans cannot understand our obsession with them.. lol. Have even seen us bean eaters described as proles on another blog site :o)

There is a difference in recipe, the American baked beans (or actually the Heinz Premium Vegetarian Beans as they are called) contain brown sugar bringing the total sugar content to 17g as opposed to the British 7g... that would explain the diff in taste people. They also cost a lot more too, roughly $3 a can as opposed to the 70/80p a can here. |:) Come to think of it it is quite good for VS to be offering Baked Beans on the menu at their US outposts.. anything to make us Brits feel at home :P

Cheers for the TR Blacky 8D

My US friends can't understand how we can eat baked beans for breakfast, not realising that it's only when we dine out for brekkie that we have them. In return I could never understand spuds with their brekkies! :0
