Sat back to enjoy the ride, first motorway services he pulls off to check the air in the tyres, no worries and soon on our way again, we were chatting and didn’t notice that he missed the turn off for the M56 until he pulled off at the next exit. Fortunately hubby used to work in the area so directed him. Arrive at MAN to find roadworks everywhere and apparently missing signs directing us to Terminal 3 so we ended up driving round a while until we finally found the right route!
OLCI hadn’t allowed us to check in the previous day, just kept getting messages saying unable to check in online, you will still be able to check in at the airport, so found the priority line and stood waiting. 3 desks open, 1 for tickets, 1 priority and 1 economy. We were first in the priority line and when the girl checking in had finished with her passenger she leaned over facing the front of the economy line and shouted next please. I walked over and she gave me a strange look, I smiled and said ‘sorry, is this not the priority line?’ she looked to the guy at the next desk and he nodded so she (it seemed reluctantly) held her hand out for my documents. I was not feeling the love at this point.
Bags checked and tagged, transfer at LHR and Upper, boarding passes tagged with fast track and told where the Escape Lounge was. Not a very friendly experience I have to say.
Through security in next to no time, more people in the fast track line than the other but still no time waiting.
With only 15 minutes to boarding now we didn’t bother going up to the lounge and boarding started on time. Gold, transferring upper and those needing assistance called first. Hubby picked up a paper at the door ‘in case we’re sat on the tarmac for 15 minutes’ (I blame him totally for what happened next

Fairly decent load which is good to see, this is our 5th Little Red flight and they have been getting busier each time.
I think I might just have nodded off a little because I jumped when I realised the door was opening again, a couple who had been moved to sit on the front row got up to leave. It seems the lady was feeling unwell and decided after boarding that she was too ill to make the flight. Announcement confirms that they are leaving and their bags would need to be offloaded.
I may have nodded off again (it had been a hard week with little sleep) but there were a couple of announcements keeping us informed, 'bags found and offloaded', 'just paperwork to complete and we’ll be off'.
Think we were delayed about 30 mins, so at least hubby had time to read the paper

Female pilot today, and every credit to her I’ve never taxied so fast to the runway in my life, the girl had lead boots on – girl after my own heart !
Didn’t bother with the bacon roll this morning, just an orange juice for me but service was fast and good, crew were polite and smiley.
Flight time was 35 minutes and we had great views over London as we arrived, even though we were late it felt like the fastest flight we’ve done, no holding, straight in and straight to the gate.
We were in row 4 so first off and onto the transfer shuttle bus which was packed, then a 10 minute walk, quick duty free and then onto the Clubhouse. Will cover the next part of the trip in a separate TR. All in all a good flight, any hiccups were just one of those things that can’t be helped but ground staff were a little disappointing.
