As for the pre amble, to cut a long story short, Mrs Buns and I had been on a two week US tour covering NYC, Las Vegas, Palm Springs and West Hollywood - meeting up and renewing acquaintances with some V Flyers along the way. Our final day was in west Hollywood where The London Hotel had looked after us splendidly, but even with a later check out meant that we were presenting ourselves at LAX at around 5pm for a 10pm flight

At least we were accepted for check in but that bit is best passed over, other than to say we were informed that "due to high volumes" our lounge this evening would be the Air France lounge and not Air New Zealand. As others have said, the Terminal at LAX is dire and devoid of any saving graces (this extends to the public washrooms which are filthy). After some Duty Free Shopping and something that would pass as a meal we made our way to the Air France Lounge on the first floor which is a shared facility and is accessible by Priority Pass.
The only saving graces being that it overlooks the stand for the VS aircraft and there are plenty of power points. It was a good call to have eaten in the terminal as there is only crisps and snacks - as well as a few filled rolls - on offer. The Lounge increasingly filled and Mrs Buns and I decided it would be best to make our way to the Gate before the official call by the VS Ground Crew member who was stationed in the Lounge.
As is always the case, there seemed to be the world and his wife mingling around the Gate, but we timed our arrival perfectly as the announcement of Upper and Golds to board was made meaning that Mrs Buns and I were third to board are a famous musician

Welcomed on board (but not by name) were were quickly ensconced in our seats and reading material for Mrs B secured. The plane slowly filled and at push back we were told there were 313 pax on board.
After take off, the whole experience just leaped ahead bounds. There were a number of US Celebrities on board, not just the musician, and many of you will recall Kraken's experience and be thinking "here we go again".
Nothing of the sort - everyone in the UC Cabin was being looked after with no fawning or other signs of being singled out. Indeed what was nice to notice was the subtle and discreet way the FSM went up to Golds and Uniq's to establish their drinks orders first

The CSS who came up to take our orders, again subtly and discreetly, addressed Mrs Buns and myself by name and continued to do throughout the flight

The Menu:
Starters
Spring asparagus soup
Heirloom tomato salad
Main Courses
Lamb navarin
Broiled salmon
Thai vegetable curry
Dessert
Double chocolate hot lava cake
Vanilla bean cheese cake
All I will say is that I am grateful for the napkins having the buttonhole as the soup was sure tasty

Now, especially for JoeyC, who has previously remarked about the lack of Jack Daniels on board, in the light of a number of celebrities on board, the FSM made sure that all customers were kept happy

I watched "Hyde Park on Hudson" which was a nicely filmed piece but perhaps did not reflect what i had thought the story was about.
Throughout the flight there were staff on hand to look after us and before i knew it breakfast was being served up.
Landing into Heathrow saw us behind flights coming in from Lagos, Dubai and Shanghai so as one can imagine, the immigration Hall was not the sort of sight that will welcome visitors to the UK and perhaps i will no longer make comment about the US Immigration experiences.
I will conclude this TR by saying that I was totally impressed by the the FSM on this flight - not only did he lead his team by example in a way which he worked tirelessly throughout the flight, but also he showed how delegation should be done and I am sure every member of the crew picked up on how things to do better in future. A missive has been sent to Crawley Towers
Thanks for reading and I apologise for any typing mistakes there may be
