This was our first time flying out of LGW and maybe I'm easily impressed but I was very impressed with the check-in procedures here. I did OLCI at about 23 hours and only got sequence 50 & 51. We arrived at LGW and did our bag drop in the PE line which was empty. The check-in agent was rather bland. We were given our boarding passes with the Premium Gatwick sticker and off we went to the Premium Security check. This experience was a new one for us for we generally have to go through security with the masses.
We had passes to the No. 1 Lounge and went there to check in. This is a nice lounge. We had drinks and continental breakfast items which were very good. The gate was announced at 11:40 so we headed that way. There were some who were getting a secondary screening but we were shown through to the waiting area. Soon it was time to board and the boarding process went very quickly.
We took our seats which were 9 A&C. I was a little concerned that these seats wouldn't recline as much since they were backed against the bulkhead but that was not a problem. The overhead bin was larger than the bin we had in the bubble on our outward flight but there was no side bin by the seat. The flight crew was very good as they were on our flight to London. The food was okay and we both got what we wanted. Drink service was plentiful. VERA is really a great system with lots to choose from.
We landed at MCO ahead of schedule and were the third and fourth passengers off the plane. That was really sweet. We were through immigration in no time and had to wait for our bags. Once the bags were retrieved it was a quick stop at customs and we were off to home. Although we didn't have to go through it there was a TSA secondary screening for some lucky passengers. Checking bags that had already been screened and flown a trans Atlantic flight really makes a lot of sense.
