I should imagine that there are not many fans of overnight flights and I'm certainly not one but this was as good as it could possibly be.

Club LAS was not too bad at all - delicious roasted pepper & smoked gouda cheese soup and broccoli soup (the former excellent, didn't try second) & and an adequate selection of snacks (pretzels, chips etc0, some rolls (ham & Swiss, turkey & Provolone being just a few) - adequate all - but miss no windows

Flight left a little late but we were soon soaring over wonderful Vegas & off into the mountains

Shortly after dinner was served - I had asparagus soup (other option was heirloom tomato salad w/ Mozzarella), chicken with turnips ( v( ), roasted potatoes & haricot beans ... all okay - desert was chocolate lava cake or strawberry cheesecake

No turbulence, not even over Canada ( y) ), actually managed to sleep for over one hour which is a first in many, many trans-atlantic flights & we landed ahead of schedule into balmy Gatwick

Lucky in immigration as we arrived just before what seemed like three other flights - unbelievably there was just ONE officer routing people v( - poor chap probably had a nervous breakdown

All in all, a good one :)

Hope you were lucky in Vegas ^)

The luckiest in seven visits, thanks

Extended visit, Joey

Mirage Penthouse (didn't like it - more suited to the party set, of which I haven't been party to for quite a few years), Palazzo (always superb) and nine days at Bellagio courtesy of my wonderful host

Not a high roller/whale but we usually get a Tower Deluxe room which is the end of the corridor with dual aspect views - perfectly adequate for a longer stay (this time nine nights)

This was my seventh Vegas trip and and in all honesty was a bit too long - our Californian side-trip was curtailed due to the absolute blistering heat - although used to 118 degrees in the Coachella valley, not for a week solid ... and I'm devastated with the news about Idyllwild's environs because I love that place as a respite from the valley floor heat
