Hi all ,well after a great trip to New York at the end of may I needed 7 TP,s to reach gold by the end of aug so couldn't think of a better way to do this than errr a trip to New York ! I did ponder on this for a while because there was a sale on in UC and it got to last day and two bottles of Pinot Grigio and I eventually buckled and booked it .
So part one of my trip was done and now part two was underway and this was to persuade another vflyer who we all know as joeyc to book to come along(well I wouldn't want to be drinking alone all the time would I !) joey eventually crumbled aswell after a few 'you know you want to come ' texts from myself and so we were all set for vs1 on the 5th of July .
M25 was plain sailing for once on the day of the flight and found myself getting dropped of at the terminal about 10.30am so plenty of time in the clubhouse for me again .in case you are wondering why I didn't bother with dtci this time it was because I was getting dropped off in a van ! And I do like to have a last couple of ciggies aswell before I go through security
Boarding pass issued and up in the lift to the private security channel which took a good ten minutes to get through ,just arrived at the wrong time I guess .
A very warm welcome at the CH reception from both the ladies and had a good chat with one in particular who remembered me from previous visits .
Haircut booked first and then settled down in the brasserie for a spot of breakfast ,good as always but I do think they could make the portions a bit bigger,I know you can order more but I would feel a bit greedy if I did that ,black pudding was missing again ! Joey arrived at 11.30 ish and we had a few drinks and lunch in the brasserie and alas it was time to leave the haven that is the CH and walk to the gate, can't remember what gate it was to honest .
So on to mustang Sally and seat 19k on slinky s recommendation ,it was my first time in UC on a 747 and I wasn't disappointed ,the a zone is really spacious and it was nice to be able to get out of the seat and not be worried about being in anyone's way ,most of the flight was spent at the bar with joey drinking and chatting and we even had our food there although I had to go and sit back down for desert as the old back was starting to moan so I left joey there playing that old game of find the jack Daniels ( one of the cc had hidden them from him! )the food was good ,managed to finish watching Argo at the sixth time of asking and went back to the bar and guess what joey was still there !,
The flight as always in UC went too quickly and too soon we were landing in Newark and being 'interrogated' by yet another miserable security officer or whatever it is they are called.
All in all another great UC flight which got me to 2 pts off of gold ,I'm sure I've probably missed some bits out so hopefully joey can fill in the blanks (thru his jd glasses !)
Return TR to follow which I shall start tomorrow and may even do one for the easyjet flight I took to Cyprus on tues where I'm writing this from.

I did prevail in finding the JD for any that care. :P :P

It was a really good flight Blacky, forgetting about the CSS that didn't want us drinking the bar dry or the CBP officer that was apparently raised without manners a top notch entry into NYC.

Cheers for posting this up Blacky, just jeering me on to do mine now aren't ya..

Have an awesome one in Cyprus 8D

Sounds like quite a time in the CH and the flight. Glad you got your first A Zone experience - I think it's quite special.

Hope NYC didn't disappoint, and looking forward to your EZY TR..

I've done DTCI in a van before but there we're 2 of us with what must have been 8 suitcases between us on a wet November night. No way I'd have done anything but DTCI.

And great TR Blacky. This has got me thinking, wouldn't it be nice to have a v-flyer weekend in NY next time there's a good enough sale?

Loved the TR - perhaps next time you should put a small tracking device on the JD just in case it goes AWOL mid flight again! Enjoy Cyprus. y)
