I travelled down on VS3048 from Manchester which was completely uneventful and nice to see a load of 91 passengers...I will say the ground team at Manchester have really raised their game and though I am using Little Red weekly at the moment so we recognise each other, it was nice to be called to the front of the queue from the back and addressed by name ;)

I used the VS transfer service from T1 to T3 which was a breeze and I was in T3 departures within minutes and making my way up the CH arriving at 1615.

I was welcomed warmly and by name and told to make myself comfortable but to ask if I needed anything at all... :D Having already booked my hair cut in advance which I am very fortunate to have access to, no mad rush to try and secure an appointment was necessary oo)

I settled down and enjoyed a delicious CH burger with frequent top-ups of bubbles....

The hair cut was very leisurely indeed with another top up of champagne...then visited the roof terrace to watch some airport activity. The grey goose lounge was very quiet indeed and then I retired to the bar for a couple of redheads which went down well.. ):

Time to board came at 1930 and a walk down to the gate which was quite a walk....greeted to see "Dancing Queen" was still being prepared after arriving a couple of hours earlier from Shanghai....

Boarding was well underway and sadly no priority line was in operation but it all moved quickly and I managed to grab a few words about the uniform which a couple of the ground team were wearing and it looked really smart.....it was a hit with them too y)

Welcomed at the door (but not by name) and started to settle in when a glass of champagne arrived and CC member introduced herself. The menu and amenity kit were already on the ottoman and sleep suits, newspapers and magazines followed.

Pushback was at 2026 with a total load of 298 passengers with 13 cabin crew confirmed. The FSM was a CSS acting up but was efficient if not overly friendly.

Both UC and PE were solid and it sure was going to be a busy flight.

Airborne was at 2052 with a flight time of 7hrs 12mins promised and hot towels were soon distributed.

Drink orders were taken and quickly dispatched with crisps with refills offered and accepted.

Tables were laid for dinner at 2155 and nice to see a vintage red onboard from Le Soula, wine, water and bread were offered a couple of times too.

The menu was:

English Ham Hock or Summer-picked Barley and Vegetable Broth

*****
Pan-seared Fillet of Beef, Sautéed Chicken Breast or Thai green Vegetable curry

*****
Chocolate salted caramel pudding or British Strawberry and custard tart

I enjoyed the ham hock salad which was tasty and the Chicken which was delicious. The warm chocolate salted caramel pudding went down well too..... ):

The cheese trolley didn't put in an appearance but it was proactively offered and the port even ran out......sorry those on VS18 the next day ii)

I retired to the bar for some reading and here I developed a taste for Amarula.....which I found very moorish indeed :o)

It was then back to the seat after an hour to get some rest and watch a little of a movie and some more of Miranda though have seen that episode a few times now on board.. n(

I woke up after a snooze over Vermont and the Graze options were being proactively offered but I was still full so stuck with water and another glass of Amarula. The mini beef burgers were going down well along with the Grilled chicken skewers.

With everyone strapped in, hot towels and lovehearts were offered and we touched down at 2305 with a fantastic view of New York on the left hand side, the landing was hard and strong pushing me into the side of the suite but with a couple of exit points closed, the Captain was clearly wishing to avoid using the full length.... :P

Immigration was quick, I was through but the officer was unfriendly and simply waved me on. The bags were quickly off and I was out into the warm evening to find the AirTrain was suspended but managed to jump on a bus, pickup the hotel shuttle and was in my room in Elizabeth before midnight....not bad going in my book.

A good consistent flight, no names used but friendly attentive service and good food along the way too..
