Should point out to date I have only ever used VS domestically however have booked to go from EDI-JFK in November

Anyway, I arrived at EDI airport at 745 and headed through security, I checked in online the day before and got my passbook boarding pass (eventually!). Security was a breeze as it usually is at EDI, airport at that time is quite busy with a few Ryanair and EasyJet flights leaving as well as a United to Newark however they staff up security hence queues are very quick moving. The departure lounge at Edinburgh is adequate for short haul with numerous eating places, I always opt for EAT given its view of the runway and Gate 6 where LR boards. The morning 3001 flight landed at 815 and taxied to gate 6. Maggie May EI-DEI was doing the run this morning. 845 and the gate was announced. If one thing bothers me about EDI and indeed T1 at Heathrow its the inefficiency of the ground staff to actually get the planes boarded! They tend to stand around talking to each other having a laugh and joke then realise the aircraft actually needs to board. In EDI they dont do a manual announcement of boarding its an automated announcement

Boarding by seat row commenced about 855 and filled the plane quickly, 15-29 first then 1-19. About an 85% load I would say on this flight it was very busy and this is very heartening. Having used VSLR I have seen the numbers steadily increase over the past few months so it always puts a smile on my face. I also love the novelty of the music as you board. The plane was spotlessly clean and cabin crew very welcoming.
Take off was on time and service onboard was the usual fare with 'plane' crisps and bronte cookies offered along with drinks followed by a little pack of love heart sweets before landing. I sat at 8F looking out the window listening to music as we cruised at 33,000 ft. We were held at Heathrow and circled above london for about 10 minutes before landing and taxing to gate 8a.
Overall a great trip yet again on the increasingly popular Virgin Atlantic Little Red!
