My first LR flight, to visit the lovely city of Edinburgh for the weekend and attend friends' wedding. I was pretty excited ^)

Checked in online, with no bags to drop as it was a short weekend break (and I pack light 8D ), so we didn't check out the VS LR check-in zone (although I kind of wanted to just to be nosy). Security was nice and quick at T1 on the Friday morning, and we were through to the shops at T1 in no time.

Mr W and I had a light breakfast at Pret, then wandered round the shops for a bit, before heading to the gate (it was one of the 8s where all the LRs depart from). At the end of those gates, there was a big window/glass pane where you could spend a bit of time plane-watch. First impression was fine -- it was reasonably quiet, and there were a few newspapers that we could choose from.

One thing I noticed was that the flight had about 10 different codeshare numbers. I guess that was because VS's airline partners would all use this flight as part of their onward connection to EDI. I was quite impressed by the sheer number of flight numbers for this anyway.

Boarding was by row numbers, and was over pretty quickly. Ground staff were fine, no issues. We were on Tartan lady (I think), and when I stepped in she looked pretty cool. The soft purple lighting was soothing, and the leather seats were pretty comfortable for a very short trip.

We pushed back promptly, after a warm welcome from the CC, and were airborne before we knew it. Shortly after that drinks and Plane Crisps were served. I've had those crisps on a long-haul VS flight before, though at the time I did see the sign saying "Little red pack",and as last time, they were pretty tasty. Personally I have no issue with having crisps in the morning :o) I also had a tomato juice (with Worcester sauce of course) to go with them. Can't complain.

After the snack, there was a very brief window to use the toilet, before the seatbelt sign was switched on again and the CC handed out landing sweets y)

The journey felt really quick, and to earn 750 base miles and 1 TP on a single trip was really good value! I'll have to resist the temptation to do this more often as a mile and TP run ii)

Overall I very much enjoyed my first LR flight, and would happily use it again. Having used the train once to Edinburgh, I found flying easier and a little bit quicker - especially as we are 30 mins away from LHR and LGW by taxi.

That said, on the other end we tried out the new tram in Edinburgh -- at £5 single and a trip lasting about 40 minutes (to Princes Street), I was underwhelmed. ][|)

After I submitted the TR I thought to myself, damn I forgot to mention the pax load. I did turn my head round and I would say that it was about 75% full, which I was pleasantly surprised about. I think it was because it was a Friday morning in the summer, where more people are flying to Edinburgh for a long weekend? (It was bloody freezing when we got there though.)

Mind you, I was on another LR yesterday (LHR - ABZ), flying back later this pm and the load was really really light. There were less than 25 pax on board I reckon.
