Got to Logan late as used Logan Express who have a great parking deal going on right now but Pike traffic was horrible due to crowd headed to Sox game at Fenway. Like though being let off right at departures, and delighted that no queue meant seen at once, oddly, ushered in by two uniformed women staff at ropes back where there used to be a check list podium. While there were no lines, each booth was occupied. PE opened and we stepped up. Delight wavered and then died as it was apparently trainee practice day, given the rush was over.
White-shirted newbies were operating check-in, with one harried supervisor trying to get to all kiosks. Ours was a pleasant enough young man but clearly not ready for prime time as he needed undoing twice and then, left to his own while the supervisor undid other knots at other booths, he decided to go it on his own.

We made it particularly a challenge apparently as had two different bookings. Had to re-do boarding passes twice after lengthy hitting of buttons on computer, much head scratching and ummming but finally were handed BP with a smile and told to have good trip. I had to then ask didn't he want to tag our bags? Apparently he thought it best to do after we'd left but I mentioned we would rather like our luggage receipts, waited while he deliberated on how to make that work, received them, stuck them to our BP, waved off again and I had to say, "Hadn't you better tag them LHR and would appreciate they have UC tags as well?" Having had my bags arrive elsewhere without me on too many occasions....

Clubhouse was very pleasant. No hot meal (told to ignore menu on blackboard as no hot meals available evenings?( but had deli offerings and very good table service. CH not very full especially after Icelandair called. Called to board (GWAG) and departure delayed a bit as has been the case with this new time for VS 12.
Had a quick meal and drink at the bar while bed made up, ninja suit (cotton and hard to keep trousers belted tightly enough!) and slept fitfully as you're only comfortable on your side when pretzled into the conforming S shape in the "new" seats and even someone my length (5'3") trips up flight crew when your foot falls off the tiny stool. Oh how I miss the old seats!

Crew were attentive and good but as is frequently the case, it's homebound flight for them and most just want it over. Given the flight leaves so late at night, most pax just want to sleep anyway. Cup of tea when awake (actually had 3).

Taxied to stand just on time to join the late am crowds which meant line bending in Fast Track but bags out quickly, to a welcoming staff at Revivals for a shower and breakfast (and more tea) and out to car hire by half past 11.

It was hard to know at BOS whether they were VS staff trainees or Logan staff trainees. The two women in uniform who greeted pax were def VS as were the supervisors but the trainees were just in a white polo shirt and trousers and did not identify themselves in any way. Check-in at VS Logan is usually VS staff.

Oh dear, sounds a bit of a kafuffle at check-in, hope the training is finished soon and normal service resumes.

I've been keeping an eye on the schedules of this as we're flying out in 6 weeks and the VS12 seems to be late departing by approx. 1 hr and arriving late, quite a lot. Good job I've left plenty of time to get through revivals and across London for my connecting train to come home!

You must have been unlucky.
I am what you would call a semi-regular out of Logan (once every 4-6 weeks) and I have never had that. I actually know two or three of the check-in staff by first name.
They all have to learn but lets not put them on during the rush v(
What I will agree with you on is this new departure time for the VS is a joke, total and absolute.
Logan used to be a great airport the speed of the flight back, the time it landed meant I could get in to Revivals, shower, eat and get in to the city for a full day.
Now, as I am not missing Revivals, I have to get in to the office at gone 10:30am :o) :o)

I think we were unlucky--but wondering if that luck has anything to do with Delta as possibly they were being trained to operate both kiosks? Logan is usually a breeze to fly in and out of. I did notice that every kiosk where there was a trainee had similar issues and none of us made much progress, so good thing there was no queue! The late flight has plusses and minuses, it allows a full day's work Boston end but certainly makes the London side a challenge.
Being able to eat a hot meal prior to boarding seems appropriate as well given the hour. This is the second time in two months that there has been none on offer but thinking I may just be arriving too late?

Thanks for the TR roadrunner , I wonder if LG or anyone else can confirm that hot food is available in the CH as it would be a pretty poor show if not !

We flew back on the 6th August. The CH was heaving. We arrived just after it opened. there was hot food and desserts but they ran out quite quickly. Had we known we would have eaten on arrival- sadly we didn't.

It was 5.45- same time as the checkin. I double checked with check in and lounge staff as we are flying again in a few months following a hop up from Miami which arrives at 4ish- so interested how long we would be hanging round.
