Transfer to Terminal 2 via Flight Connections was very quick. We shared the bus with 1 other passenger. Immigration and security were empty so we were soon in the Aer Lingus lounge.
We managed to find 2 very comfortable armchairs with footstools overlooking the runway so, at least we had a decent outlook for the afternoon..
Food on offer was Red pepper soup and rolls, Danish pastries etc and cheese and biscuits as well as the bar so we were well set up.
Flight was called and we were soon on board with probably about a half load. Push back was a few minutes early. We then taxied to the runway and that's when the problems arose. Captain reported that there were 12 aircraft ahead of us and we could be 20 mins or more. Forty minutes later we moved and eventually took off an hour after leaving the stand. It seems the delays were the result of the airport being closed temporarily because of bad weather in the Heathrow area.
Flight was then uneventful and we finally arrived in Manchester about 40 min late.
At baggage claim there were about 2 dozen waiting for luggage so does illustrate LR problems over lack of international transfer passengers
