We were booked into seats 20 H & k but at the check in I asked if they had 2 seats in row 18 to which I was answered with a head shake, I took that to be a no.. I was amazed at how quiet Shanghai airport was. We did some shopping, two cute pandas brought for my grandsons. The time flew and it was time to board. Call me a snob but I do love being called to board first. Once on board it was a short wait for pre take off drinks. I noticed no one sitting in 18 H & K so I politely asked a member of the CC if we could move and as no one was sitting there this request was granted yippee more leg room and no seats in front.
Once airborne, menus and amenity packs were given out along with leather foot stools for us. Lunch was served and I had the beef casserole which was lovely. The fruit tart was to die for. They come round after dinner with liqueurs, I think it was brandy and some kind of Bailey's. I was a bit miffed to see the cabin lights switched off making this day flight a night flight. The lights remained off until 2 hours before landing, when another meal of chicken pasta was served. There was a choice of one other meal. The usual toilet issue happened with economy using the two toilets for PE. The crew do nothing to stop this, but I guess unless they are there when it happens, they can't really. Maybe an announcement could be made at the beginning of the flight.
It was a long flight back just over 12 hours but all in all in was a great flight. The CC came round loads with water and juice and an ice lolly. Next week I fly to Orlando but this time for pleasure and in upper class. Can't wait.
