Following our LR flight (VS3004) from EDI to LHR on 31/12/2014, we stayed at the Hilton at LGW South Terminal that evening for our flight to Grenada on 01/01/2015.

The Hilton was as we normally find it - pleasant and convenient for VS flights from LGW.

We wandered over to the UC check in area. Service was excellent and within minutes we were on our way to security. To our surprise, LGW was rather busy at 0700 hours on New Year's Day. Anyway, we used the priority security line which I think must have saved us a good 20 minutes or so.

We decided to skip breakfast at the Hilton and opted to have breakfast in the CH. A lovely breakfast washed down with a few red heads, a perfect way to start the day! The CH was busy with pax from the VS033.

Boarding was called at 0815 hours and after a quick glass of champagne, we headed down to our gate. We had Miss Sunshine who would be taking us to GND. A lot of pax at the gate waiting to board, however we were straight on and we took up our seats in 3 & 4A. Champagne round commenced and I made light work if Mrs J's as she was having an OJ.

We pushed back and we were on our way on schedule. The FSM made us aware that EC and PE were full and from what I could see, there was only 1 seat free in UC. A very healthy load indeed!

This was our first time using the UCDS on the A330's, and if I'm being honest, we thought it was a fantastic suite! Very comfortable and we both thought it was better than flights we have previously had on the UCS on the other aircrafts operated by VS.

The service on the flight was second to none!! It really was. Not once did we have to ask for drinks as the CC were always there with a replacement. Mrs J actually had to decline a drink from them, and I couldn't let it go to waste, so I happily obliged :)

The food was lovely, probably the best we have had on with VS or BA. (If anyone is interested, I can post the menu options).

We landed early into UVF for the hour wait, which passed extremely quickly! CC came round with drinks and snacks during that hour before we were on our way to GND.

As I said, this was by far the best VS flight we have ever had, and we have a few! It is service/flights like this that really set VS and BA apart!!

I have wrote an email to Crawley Towers with my thoughts on this flight.

Apologies for the delay in postings his TR. Since returning, work has been exceptionally busy. Return TR to be posted soonest.

Thanks for reading.

Sounds like you had a great time. I've considered Grenada before, and the double drop at UVF doesn't seem to have troubled you that much. Good to see the drinks and snacks offering, I don't remember that from my only experience of the same thing on the way to UVF a couple of years ago.

I can't, in my heart of hearts, be as enthusiastic as you are about the UCDS and the UC layout on the 330's though.... :)

Enjoyed the trip report, thanks a lot for posting.

Hope work levels calm down a bit and you do get time to post the return trip report with some added info on how you (hopefully) enjoyed the islands!

Echo what pjh said on the UCDS (as you'll have maybe read on my trip report to GND from last year) but obviously pleased that not everyone hates it because imho nobody on this forum keen to see VA lose customers over it else we'll all finish up permanently on the Dark Side (and at higher prices too if there's reduced competition).
