So keeping it short I travelled with my partner on VS15 yesterday (2nd June) which took over 10 hours to get from London to Orlando (very long compared to normal). They told us it's because of headwind. I have seen the logs from the last week and for the days leading up all VS15 flights took ages. However, VS16 - the return leg back to London has also been taking ages (an hour or more over average every day). If there were massive headwinds going to Orlando surely the return would be flying with the winds and get back quicker? So, assuming the flaw in this is that they are cross winds then it kind of could explain it.

Now here is my issue, VS27 is another flight by Virgin from London to Orlando. From and to the exact same airports on the exact same aircraft. Every day it has done this flight in normal time (8.5 hours) and returning in normal time (VS28). Even stranger it was delayed and took off 2 minutes after VS15 on 1st June and got there 1.5 hours before. It's impossible for two flights travelling the exact same route through the same head winds to get there so far apart. Also not a single itinary from any other airline travelling to or from Orlando from London or Manchester had any big issues or overly long flight time.

I noticed during the flight we spent a lot of time at 29k feet and just over 400mph. I think this plane was going that slow deliberately.

Very confused but I think the pilot might not be 100% telling us the truth?

Hi and welcome to the site.

This issue has been discussed in a couple of threads, most recently in this one, which should give a bit more of a clue to what has been going on.

I'll lock this thread to avoid duplication and ask that any further discussions carry on in the existing thread.

Thanks,
Neil
