Just had Vista installed on my Laptop (Fresh install of Vista Enterprise) and I seem to be having a problem with some aspects of Firefox. I have had to kill the process off on several occasions due to a window hanging and it is generally when I have a particularly window on screen which seem also to want Java (for which I have installed the latest JRE from SUN). I am using Firefox V2 which has had all the usual updates.

Also, just noticed that the software doesn't seem to have been activated (There is a message saying 2 days to auto activation) in my system properties box but when I try to activate now I get a DNS error. I am using OPENDNS.ORG servers, could this be the reason? Where is it trying to activate? I hope not with my work servers as we don't have a Vista Activation Server setup yet! I was told that the Enterprise version could be activated by Microsoft Servers.

Depends on how your IT group configured your build. They may have emebedded your MAK. If there is no MAK, then you will need to enter it manually, or use KMS. Sounds like you don't have your KMS host installed yet, not to worry you have 30 days grace before it goes into OOG state. You can extend the grace period using the SLMGR -REARM command from an elevated CMD prompt. The enterprise version can be activated using our public facing activation servers if you use a MAK.

Thanks,
Richard

Thanks for the response Richard, I have now sorted out the Activation. My employer had given me a code which I assumed had been entered (as it was working) but it hadn't. I have now entered the code and I am activated.

Anyone using vista experienced a problem with Firefox?

Not really, still get the odd plug in that I have on my PC that Firefox doesn't seem to like, but generally ok. Sometimes a right click to spell check a word can take 5 seconds for the pop to appear, but most things seem ok now. Just can't get my Kiss Media Player to work [?]

I'm hardly the best person to answer this, but I've put Firefox 2 on Vista several times and not had any issues at all. Infact, its zippier than IE7, and thats with all my plug-in's. I take it that your machine has been upgraded to Vista and already had Firefox on it? If so, it might be worth re-installing Firefox again.

If there are issues present after that, its most likely to be a conflict between Vista and Firefox plug-ins. Are you using the Vanilla Firefox, or one customised with lots of extensions?

Thanks,
Sarah

Sarah, It was a fresh install of Vista and then I installed Firefox onto it. The only add on I have installed and foxmarks.

As my laptop isn't new (It an HP NC6120) it scores a vista rating of 1 due to a lack of 'gaming' graphics ability and no Aero interface but that doesn't bother me to be honest. I use my Mac at home for graphics.

In all honesty the only thing I have to use it for is IPv6 testing.
