....however, now that the season has started, you're only allowed 1 free transfer per gameweek, any in excess of that are charged at a 4 point deduction which is taken off your total. So, if you make 3 transfers, 1 is free and you're charged 8 points off your total. I think the point deduction happens at the start of the next gameweek after you've done the transfers.

A new scheme this year is that if you don't use your free transfer in 1 gameweek, you can carry it over to the next and make 2 free - the transfer can only be carried over for 1 week and if you don't use it, you lose it (as far as I understand anyway).

Finally, there's a 'wildcard' that you can play once and once only at any time during the season - this means that you can effectively change your entire team without losing any points (my team started off so badly last year, I used my wildcard in gameweek 3!).
