Sorry Al, but just read that Leeds has been put into administration and that teh 10 point deduction has been taken now - so its off to Divi 1 Im afraid(for thos of you not familiar with the English Leagues we have the Premiership, The Championship and then Divisions 1 and 2!!)

And to think Leeds were "living the dream" and were in the semi-final of the Champs league!!!

Oh dear!!

I didn't even realise Leeds had 10 points to be deducted from.....

Noticed Kenny boy has bought the club back off himself minutes after goin into administration.

Whilst i have very grave reservations about Bates, I have to say, he has played the game very well.
We had no chance really to score 10 goals on Sunday, or even with our track record this year score 5 and hope Hull would lose 4-0. So we were relegated last week anyway.
By going into administration now (though we should have done this two years ago when we owed £140 million) the 10 points are deducted this season, if left to after Sunday the ten points would be taken off next season.
Bates registered Leeds united football Club 2007 on 1st may.
Bates had already farmed off the ground and the training ground, and has now wiped the £35 Million debt.
This manes that we start from a position of being debt free with our assets intact at the start of next season, with a very large fan base and being able to rise again.
If we had Bates or someone similar instaed of Risdale, we would not have got into this position in the first place.
Whether in the long term bates is good for the club or not remains to be seen.
But I now feel much happier that we will have a great season next year, and looking at the grounds we will be travelling to, in the majority, it will be like playing a home game as the travelling support will be larger than the home supporters!

Sorry, but considering that it was only like 6 years ago they were on the verge of going to the Champions League Final and among one of the best sides in England I simply cannot think of any other way to describe Leeds United's fall from grace. And it seems to be doing the rounds at the minute about Leeds United being a laughing stock.

I wopuld have though sad is a better comment than laughing stock. Its like saying the Liverpool are the disgrace of English football based upon things that happened many years ago, that we do not need to mention. (and that was nonsense as well)

Too true Alan - I'm hanging on to my cherished photo of little me with Hunter, Clarke, Bremner and Lorimer from a long long time ago and hoping for some better days to come!

Fair enough. And yes please lets not mention what happened to Liverpool many years ago because this does affect me (and my mums family) personally.

The great escape continues (for the time being).....

3-1 v Bolton [y]

That's 6 wins in the last 8 games!

Liverpool did us no favours (again) by losing to Fulham [n][n]

Wigan continue their poor run [y][y] and I truly hope they go down due to the whinging actions of Dave Whelan threatening to sue all and sundry over the Tevez affair

THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS......
Any of the clubs in the relegation mire are there because of their poor season-long performance (and that includes West Ham) !

Lets hope Villa beat Sheff Utd today so at least they will try against Wigan next Sunday

Charlton face Spurs on Mon

So it all comes down to next week

Man U v West Ham (easy one for us here[:w])

Sheff Utd v Wigan

Liverpool v Charlton

Boro v Fulham

I think it's the clubs around us clutching at straws.....

A points deduction was one of the options that could have been taken against us, but a fine was deemed to be sufficient.

Should (and it's a big should) we stay up then I can't see a points deduction being retrospectively applied. As I said previously, the clubs are all there at the bottom due to the season long series of results.

Slightly worried about the Sheff U / Wigan alliance hence why I want Villa to win today so at least they'd have to try next week

As for relying on Liverpool to do anything for you, unless your neighbor has something you'd like to have and thus need nicked, it's unlikely you'll ever get much succor from that lot. Pathetic performance against a lame team. These are the champions of Europe? LOL (cue VS045....)

GJ

Thanks for the support GJ

Would now like Arsenal to beat Chelsea so at least you wont have to beat us next weekend - but saying that our record at Old Trafford is how shall I put it....... Hmmm crap would sum it up

I have a ticket so will be making the trip up there come what may

as for Liverpool...
Haven't forgiven them for 'stealing' the cup from us last year
- cue mickey mouser comments about being thouroughly deserved...never give up till the end etc etc ;)

Interesting - firstly we now have a hand firmly on the Premiership - and after 3 years without winning it,it will be a very welcome trophy this year. Poor game and great result - and just for a change we get a penalty awarded against us that definitely wasn't!! ( and by Rob Styles - was he making amends?[V])

If Chelsea don't win then that's good for us but may also be a godsend for West Ham coz I'm sure that we won't field a strong team on Sunday next week ahead of the FA Cup final - but if we need a point from the game then I think WHU will have a really tough time - which they might have even if we do field a weakened side.

Oh and sorry Jon but we owe you for the 0-1 at The Boleyn too!!

As far as the fine/points deduction then I do think West Ham have got off lightly - fielding inelegible players usually resuts in the points you win from games they played in being deducted - so I do not think we have heard the end of this one - if West Ham get relegated then it will quietly go away but I am sure that if they stay up Wigan - for one - will be taking things to court - the financial penalties of relegation are simply to great not to.

Oh and Jon - if you fancy saying hello next Sunday then I would be delighted to come and meet you [y]

[^][^][^][^][^][^][^] Come on you Hammers!

Villa were 2-0 up when I last checked (nice!)

Totally gutted this morning as our local cable provider decided that today was the day for 'technical' problems, hence I missed the game [:(!]

I'm now hoping that Fergie's boys are going to do us a favour next week[:w]

You have absolutely no chance of winning next Saturday because all the games kick off at 3pm on Sunday!!!

Just thought I would tell you so that you can still plan to go shopping on Saturday!! [y]
