Standard education, yes. University education and you are looking at a fair bit more in the Apple stores. If you know any undergraduates ...

Thanks,

What is the undergraduate offer? Not heard this one before and as my daughter goes to Uni next year it might be handy!

Undergrads get a healthy discount on Macs. You can only access the special 'Apple on Campus' store from the participating University network/extranet, though once your daughter has been accepted onto her course, if you pop along to your local Apple store they should be able to take care of it for you.

It's not just undergraduates that benefit from the Education discount but anyone affiliated with a higher education institution.

I've just had a quick check and prices come up as:

MacBook White 2.0Ghz £601.60 (normal £699)
MacBook Pro 15" 2.2GHz £1104.50 (normal £1299)
iMac 20" 2.0GHz £702.65 (normal £799)

So you seem to save in the region of 12-15%.

It is worth pointing out with regards to the Higher Education discount:

1. You need a valid NUS (national union of students) card or a valid University Staff ID Card. Not all universities belong to NUS for example Exeter and Oxford have just opted out AFAIK.
2. Your institution needs to be on the list that Apple holds.
3. You need to pray your institution has got itself a large amount of discount available. For example my undergrad university didnt use mac so just had the standard 12% discount but where I am studying currently uses Macs only and thus has a whooping discount.

If you are in the US- I believe it works like this,
1. You claim your a student.
2. Ask for university/college and NI Number
3. A US Credit Card and address
4. You pay the full price then have to get a rebate from the government.

Apple realise how good there education discount it but now are very strict on it.

PS: If not a student dont even ask for it- that would be like me trying to get into the CH on a Y ticket with a red fc card.[:p]
