Even though Liverpool have three of their Premier League fixtures on Setanta I'll be sticking with Sky Sports for now, unless Virgin Media come back with a great deal for Sky Sports and Setanta.

Anyone else subscribing/subscribed to Setanta?

Setanta is the service my local subscribes to and that's where I watch most of the games, especially last year. For 2006/2007, Fox Soccer Channel broadcasts of MUFC games was nearly nowt (that's how we get Sky Sports broadcasts, courtesy of the fact News Corp owns them both)...the years before they allowed you to buy live broadcasts of 'premium' games (usually MUFC so it cost me loads of dosh! [n]) on cable for $20 each but last season nothing...so it was down the local and pints at 6am [:p] for Setanta.

Setanta seems to be a very good service...they certainly have a great selection -- seems like every Sunday pub league game on the Hackney Marshes is on there, all the way on up to EPL and other premier leagues around the world. I would get it if I had a dish.

It seems strange that Sentanta sports is also on our Sky channels menu as they appear to be competing with each other. I haven`t decided which to choose. Sky Sports coverage is excellent for football(soccer). I haven`t done much homework on them both yet. Do you think Sky and Sentanta are in some sort of agreement as they seem to both have a good initial match selection that tempts you to get both?

I don't know how Setanta works, Paul, I am sorry to say -- I just sit down, order beans on toast and a Boddies, and suddenly the game is on! [y] I agree, Sky have some great commentators and good camera work. At any rate, whomever you end up going with, the TV will show the same thing: MUFC beating the knickers off everyone else!

The powers that be decided that SKY had too much of the Premier League the last time when they outbid everyone else. This time they ensured that there would be at least two companies sharing the games.
NASN was taken over by Setanta Sports and that is some of the channels on SKY, the ones shwoing baseball and basketball.
SKY have decided that this season they wont have a premium games channel (i.e. pay by game) and all games that they have access to will be on the normal subscription Sports channels including the High Def channels.
Another option is that BT are starting their own subscription service which will have all games on their system (Don't know much more about this, I think its on webcasts)

Some good news to have come out of yesterday in the aftermath of the Liverpool v Chelsea draw (Rob Styles, worst referee ever)...

MAN CITY 1-0 MAN UTD

Not wishing to fan the fearsome flames of indignation for daring to foist a second footy thread on this board's long-suffering and strictly on-topic membership, I will share my Champions League sentiment, to whit:

ING-GER-LAND DID IT!!! WELL DONE, LADS! [y]

I feel better now.

Oh, my...looks like Liverpool got held (by bloody Pompey! LOL), Chelsea were held by Blackburn but -- what's this! -- Manchester United pulled off another 1-0 win. What are we, the new Chelsea? [:o)]

Enjoy it while you can, Arsenal...we're coming to take #1 back for good.
