Assuming that I will actually get away on holiday (ref my other post on Term time holidays) I was wondering where everyone else got their U.S. dollars from, if it's not too nosey a question [ii]

I have always found Marks and Spencers to be the best rate but maybe I am missing something. Anybody any ideas for an even better rate perhaps?;)

Couldn't find anything on searching the site

I always get mine at Travelex which guarantees the best rate.

I also have a Nationwide debit and credit card, which will give you better rates with no foreign transaction fee. If you use an ATM, get it out on the debit card, for purchases, it's the credit card.

I pan-handle or whore myself to fat old women. No ATM surcharges then.

Honestly, just go to an ATM in the US. Check with your bank prior to leaving if they have any US partners that do not charge you an ATM surcharge. US ATMs charge just for the use if you are not a customer or if your bank does not have an arrangement. IIRC HSBC has a deal with Bank of America.
