How do you like your eggs?

Now before you all say you like EGG "over easy," I must point out that I am discussing the actual ova, the oblong comestible that comes from a chicken (or other fowl) and ends up on your brekkie plate.

So, to kick this off, I shall say I like my eggs: SCRAMBLED (wet), with sea salt and cracked black pepper.

What say ye?

I can just about manage a boiled egg but the yolk has to be runny so I can dip my (toast) soldiers in it [:w]

There is a daft joke where a bloke asks a lady how she would like her eggs - fried, boiled or fertilised.

But its rubbish so I wont use it here!!

And the answer is - very similar to your choice dear sir:

Scramled continental style - i.e wet - maybe with a little butter and cream added and then chopped smoked salmon mixed in just beofre serving so that it just cookes slightly!! Yummmy!!!

Or maybe delicious Eggs Bendict? Or maybe Oeufs poches florentine with spinach and cheese sauce.

Poached in water and butter with a little Vinegar and cracked black pepper in the pan. Served runny on fresh toasted farmhouse bread dripping in melted butter.
YUM YUM[^]

Poached with hollandaise sauce on a potato cake
or
Scrambled with smoked salmon and wild mushrooms
or
Boiled with runny yolk and toast soldiers

I once saw Anthony Bourdain try one of these - he could not finish it - and for him that's rare!!

For those who dont know - its a fertilised duck egg - so that the chick/embryo is part grown - then its cooked and eaten!! Yukky!!

Is it your fave James?

My choice:

Eggs Benedict in the LHR Clubhouse
Boiled with a soft yolk for dipping my soldiers in
Scrambled and slightly runny on toast

Free range (and of course not with corners on;))

I love Eggs Benedict/scrambled/oh egg Mayo on soft white rolls they do at Waitrose! MMmmmmm YUMMO! [y]

I'm with James, don't particularly like eggs in their solo form, but will quite happily shove slithers of bread into a runny yolk.

Having just spent a couple of weeks with a lot of Americans and been asked every morning how I would like my egg, I have to admit I never actually realised there were so many different ways to cook an egg for breakfast[?]. When I replied fried and kept getting asked more questions I was really confused, so in the end I just went for the already prepared scrambled to save myself further embarrassment[:I]

Why do you guys need to make it so complicated?

Why have hundreds of different ways for eggs to be served, when you can have a half-caf, double espresso with a twist of lemon (or any other variation of starbucks-styled caffeine) because in the morning, it's too hard to make a decision.... at least for me!

dry toast with tea, please. [8D]

A simple poached (free range) on a nice piece of homemade bread, toasted! Can't beat it!

Actually have this every Sunday - me a creature of habit!!

Sorry to disappoint you Neil, but if when you train as a chef de cuisine you soon find out that there are many many ways of cooking eggs - if you are bored have a look here if you want to scratch the surface!

Oh and there is no difference between brown and white eggs btw!

Well for me almost any style providing they are good eggs.

Tonight we have enjoyed Wild Scottish Smoked Salmon with a wonderful scrambled egg on wholemeal bread - preferred egg ingredient - "Burford Browns". These are just like I used to get from our free range chickens (before it became fashionable to call them such) many years ago.

What a wonderful food source a good egg is and so versatile!

Now this is an odd one - I can eat one egg happily enough, but if I eat too, I sort of feel poisoned. Can't explain it, but always been that way... but I digress..... dippy egg for me (had an Old Cotswold Legbar the other day - not seen such a yellow yolk ever before) and Marmite soldiers. Which you either love or hate.

An an aside, I happened to see a contraption in - Lakeland I think it was - that cuts your toast into perfectly even soldiers, with the egde bits being for piercing the yolk. When I;d picked myself up from the floor, it occurred to me that even soldiers are just not the thing....[:X]

I too have indulged a very similar chinese delicacy to this.
A fertilised and part grown chicken embryo, boiled.
(I try to work by the rule of not going "eeeewwww yuk!" until I have actually tried something... But this was definately border line)

So, boil it, chop the top off as one would with soldiers, pierce the membrane, drink what i suppose is amniotic fluid, then suck out the rest of the innards which are like the white of a regular soft boiled egg mixed with varying degrees of crunchiness and fluffyness depending on age. [:$]

I did have a few of these, so in truth it wasn't as bad as one might imagine, but i'd rather have some creamy scrambled eggs served with smoked wild salmon for breakfast any day.

How do I like my eggs in the morning ? In the words of the song, I like mine with a kiss, but that puts the staff of the Hilton is something of a quandary as to how far their customer service remit stretches.

Took me a while to realise the only way in the US is over easy with a side order of home cooked hash browns with chilli and onions. Sunny side up leaves the white way too runny.
