Breaking news on Sky that Michael Jackson has died .No confirmation as yet.
I just logged onto Facebook to see a load of updates going on about Michael Jackson. Looked on Google news and if you look at the latest news updates, they say he has passed away after a heart attack.

Very sad and very bizarre, just like his life.
Did he simply overstress his body with all that treatment? Or something more sinister - why do I find it odd timing, with this new concert series planned which I don't think he could have delivered ...

There's a plane at JFK, to fly you back from far away
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles
Compare this to how the (IMHO) sadder death of Farrah Fawcett has been covered.
Thanks

I thought I was the only one who thought this was all a bit bizzare (but there again I didn't think the fit looking 'Michael Jackson' we saw at the press conferences publicising the 02 dates was him either) .

Huge talent but such a troubled soul who for all manner of reasons couldn't do normal.
I think the industry that Michael Jackson became embodies so much that is wrong with modern society, so perhaps
- abused, by family, managers, doctors just about everyone
- a money machine, surrounded by people who used him for it
- a character who evolved into a person of questionable moral compass by virtue of his isolation / abuse
And now three children who could at worst follow a similar path ...

It's an interesting point, I wonder if the Jackson 5 were monitored by the US equivalent of Social Services to ensure the children were developing normally in a safe stress free environment, and also if a similar set up would be allowed today given the enhanced regulations.
A purple boarding card, pre-booked cowshed treatment, glass of T10 with lime, a proper amenity kit, packet of polos and a Freedom Menu please!

Its definately a shame that he is dead being that he was only 50 years old, i wont shed too many tears but he undoubtedly was one of the worlds most talented entertainers who will be missed by millions, but atleast his music will live long in history for what it was. His children though you have to speculate, might not have the best grounding on which to base a stable existence on! And so that will be a cause for concern.

Farewell to a fantastically talented individual who had absolutely no comprehension of 'normal'.
That is I guess what makes people stars and the inevitable trade off between fame and obscurity.
No doubt the media will have one more feeding frenzy until he's put in the ground and then another light will go out.
A shame but that's life.

Like him or hate him, he is known the world over and loved by millions. The vast majority of us grew up with him in the charts over the years and I think he truly was a genius with regard to his musical talents. I hope that is what he is remembered for.
Thanks,
Sarah

Apart from my late mother-in-law for whom I am always prepared to make an exception, I do not believe in speaking ill of the dead.
I just think it is all rather sad: not just his death at an early age but also, to a large extent, his weird life of the last few years.
It is such a pity that for all his talents and wealth he didn't really seem to find any real happiness. Perhaps that comes with the territory?

I worshipped the guy for about 30 years, most people didn't hear his message just the Thriller album. I understand many will not understand me but I personally am gutted and have and will shed many tears.
There was a small mysterious little spark of magic in the corner of every fans heart and the reality of life has just snuffed it out.
Have an opinion by all means but please don't have a go at this very sad long term fan.

I couldnt agree with you any more slinky. [y]
I am more than irrated by the amount of 'news' coverage covering him - time to move on is well over.
It is the first ever Arned Forces day yoday and I have yet to see/hear anything about it and the support our troops deserve in the various conflicts around the world and many of whom have lost their lives.
It is a bizzare sad world are currently witnessing [:?]
