Having missed the 12th due to being elsewhere [8D] I note the support in this thread for a River Cruise, living on the Thames at Maidenhead I have several good friends in the river boat business and can guarantee getting us a great deal - usual sort of thing, Bar (of course otherwise mcuth wouldn't come [;)]) BBQ, Jazz Band or disco if preferred, evening or afternoon or combination of both. Could also arrange accomodation in my local hostelry (The Thames Hotel) if required, I'm sure we could negotiate a favourable rate.

What do you think?

Nah! can't fix that one, but there will be a lower (covered) deck just incase it turns out wet.

I have asked for some prices, seems like max numbers on one of the larger craft 'Edwardian' or 'Georgian' would be around 120 they have a couple of smaller vessels too. I will ask for available dates, I assume a Saturday is favourite and then we can see what date is best.

I presume we want to do it latest before end of September? I'm booked up for Sat 31 July (wedding) Sat 21 August (V-Hols Party - thanks Richard [:)])and 4th to 18th Sep VS UC to LAX) all other Sats are free at present.

I'm currently booked for all the Saturdays in Jul/Aug except 31st Jul - a combination of the Edinburgh Festival, Holiday and other parties. If we want to get it in before the end of Sept, that would mean the 25th Sept is about the only date were Bazz & I don't clash. How does everybody elses diary look?

Also, bear in mind Richard hasn't yet confirmed a table at the VH event on the 21st Aug, so that still might be a possibility if they're already fully booked (quite likely, I would have thought).

Due to the time of year, I don't think there will be a date where everyone is free. In fact I would think that, if we are going for school hols there will be a lot of absentees.

I will fit in, if I can, I am away for at least the last three weekends in August - as I assume a lot of people with school age children will be.

Sept 25th looks okay at the moment.

Given it is likely that most Saturdays during the summer may well be booked already it may have to be September. I will find out what dates are available early next week and post to this thread. Pix is right, if we can't get a table at the V-Hols do then, subject to a boat being available, we could take that slot.

Question for Pix.

I thought you were in Edinburgh then anyway Pix and only popping down to The Belfry for the nosh? Would you be able to make the River-Boat Shuffle?

Changed my dates for Edinburgh - only up there from 7th-15th (although I might be tempted to extend that a little - I love flexible tickets!). Originally a friend had a premiere of his new film up there, but that's been moved, so don't need to get back up to Edinburgh at the end of the month now.

Count me in too. Bar and Jazz band sounds good to me - already done that trip twice before! I once organised to take one of these boats up the same stretch of Thames with about 50 customers. That was about 5 years ago and some of them still tell me it was one of the best 'jollies' they ever did.

Both trips I did were in the evening, both leaving about 7pm and due to long summer evenings we made the most of the light and docked again at about 11pm or maybe 11:30pm, just in time to head into the local hotel for residents to continue drinking[:)]

So although I know some people have a long way to travel, maybe it would be possible mid-week (I expect I'll get flamed for ) if no weekend is suitable.

If schedules could work out, I sure would love to come across the pond to meet everyone. Only two weekends free during Jul/Aug (last weekend of Jul, last weekend of Aug); other than Sep 4, all Saturdays in Sep look good. And the Thames idea sounds great.

If a future LAS of SFO trip is in the works, will volunteer to assist in the arrangements; have a few good restaurant/hotel/ground transportation contacts in both cities.

Best to all.

You're on Rob!

Chuck, looks like it may be 25th Sep esp if we don't get a table for the V-Hols do. Thanks for your offer re SFO or LAX we will keep that in mind.

Look forward to meeting you in CA in Sep. [:)]

I dont have anymore holidays planned for this year so I should be able to make this next one [:D] Any time is good for me, all I need is 4 weeks notice for the time off, weekend or midweek.

25th Sept looks good for me too (but I can't believe Bazz won't make a commitment on the weather [:D]) [8D]

Bazz,
Indeed ... I am looking forward to a meal with the 'Bazzes' at Las Brisas in Laguna Beach! And perhaps a few weeks later, some drinks in the UK with you again.

We'll have to stop meeting like this; perhaps this sort of
pond-hopping is where the term 'jet set' was coined?

Regards.

I haven't got prices yet but Sep would be less expensive than Aug.

Boat would depart/return to Maidenhead, we could go up or down river from there.

Weather in Sep might not be so good but who knows?

Should have some costs tomorrow.

I imagine one of the 'wishes' would be a cruise past the Houses of Commons etc. As river speed is limited to 5 knots until Wandsworth I'm guessing a departure of Maidenhead might be pushing it? Ready to stand corrected on both counts [;)]
