Mitchja and onionz, you guys going to put your flights in the Events and Itineraries calendar? It would be nice to see the build up on "The Social" flights taking shape [8D]

Now done by both of us [y].

This quiet little meeting you are organising in Vegas is starting to sound very interesting. There is over a 50% possibility that I may be allowed out to play. If I can make it I would like to fly with some V-flyers, I see some of you are going out of Gatwick but then returning via Heathrow. Do I assume the return flights are full or are you just adding another city to your trip, or is there another reason i am missing.

Tony,

You would be more than welcome to join us. The band is growing stronger ;)
I think the main reason for the apparently strange routing is quite simple. Folks are taking the direct flight into Vegas from LGW to get there as quickly as possible ;) but the lure of the legendary Clubhouse means that those who can gain entry will go back via SFO to continue the party with some blue drinks on the way home :D:D

Personally, I will probably go via LAX and drive to Vegas, as my brother wants to do a bit of a road trip. I haven't booked my flights yet though.

Thanks for that explanation Nick.
If I did it I would burn a hole in my bank and try and fly UC but probably end up PE or Y. Whilst I think I understand the lure of the clubhouse at San Francisco, I cannot understand why people would choose to fly UC on a LHR plane rather than a very personal (14 only) Gatwick jumbo.

Hi Tony, great to see more interest in the trip.

There's a few factors coming into play with this itinerary I think:

1. The LGW clubhouse is highly regarded (by me at least, and no doubt others :)). So, it pays to fly out of LGW. Should also point out that the LHR clubhouse should be expanded by then and is also renowned for its excellence.

2. The SFO clubhouse is also very highly regarded. Flying back UC from Vegas would mean entry to the VIP room at T2 at McCarran and that doesn't really compare to the SFO clubhouse (guessing here as I've only been in the former, but its fairly obvious from the reports...).

3. The UC cabin on a LHR plane is bigger and has a bigger bar, which could be very important to some V-Flyers ;).

4. There's a Revivals lounge in LHR which gets some good reports. There isn't one at LGW.

The upshot is a LGW-LAS-SFO-LHR routing gives access to three great VS lounges. And did I not mention that San Francisco is a great city to spend some time, even if it's only a night? Also, it's just fun to visit lots of places! :D

Hi Tony,

It will be great if you can make it. If you can't fly UC but decide to come back with us on the 20 on the 12th there is a good chance we will be able to get you into the SFO CH. Each UC pax can take in one guest providing they are also flying that day. Currently there are four of us confirmed in UC so that means four guests! ;)

Thanks for greetings guys. I have started doing some figures on this trip and it boils down to if my wife wants to go we will fly PE, if I go with a mate we will fly UC. My problem at present is I only want to be away about 5 days. I intended to fly out of Gatwick, leaving my car there, so in real terms it would be a lot easier for me to return there. The SFO flight sounds really good but I can't justify it.

You are a gentleman sir[y][y]

That takes care of the return - Now what are we going to fill the rest of the time doing during the social that will match up to our "Grand Finale"[?][?]

perhaps a "mini social" to organise the social;);)

I cannot wait

Congrats on the great present Iain, and i think i'm just in time to say happy birthday! :)

What a merry trip this one is going to be.

Decker, I think mitchja and I will have to take responsibility for the lack of G availability. You would have thought VS would have opened a few more seats up by now - surely news of our expedition has reached them [:p]. Can I take it you already hold an S ticket then?

Onionz - no not yet :) I was enquiring about availability. I can probably still do S-G on other flights but trying for VS20 seemed the best idea! Just been told we're likely to be on a cruise on March so trying to keep prices down...

Add two more for the party ;)

LRoM and I will be flying out on the VS019 on the 4th November, and yes (you guessed it), back on the VS020 on the 12th.
