Hi

We have already booked out honeymoon with Virgin Holidays to Orlando in July and returning from Miami.

However I have booked economy class tickets at the moment. Is it possible to upgrade your tickets to premium economy with VH and how much does this cost?

It would be a great surprise for my fiance if possible!

I am sure funway offer the upgrade for £140 ?

You can upgrade to either PE or Upper but you will need to contact Virgin Holidays to do this and there will need to be availability on your flight.

It will be in the region of £255 - £280 per person (depending when in July you are going) to upgrade to PE going to MCO.

Upgrade prices to/from MIA are always more expensive though. On this leg you are looking at ~£295 per person.

If you are going to splash the cash make sure you get seats on the upper deck - it adds so much more to the experience.

Are those prices return or one way prices?

Also if Funway offered to upgrade options at £140 would Virgin Holidays match that ?

Finally would I get the 10% Frequent Flyer discount ? The cheaper I can upgrade the better after an expensive wedding!!!

Or any ideas?

Those are one way prices.

VH will not match flight upgrade prices. They are sometimes less elsewhere as other companies use a different fare code for the upgrade. Virgin Holidays always use fare code 'H' for PE whereas other companies will use 'K' fare class for PE. I know TC book PE flights in 'K' class on VS flights.

The £140 will probably be for MCO flights only as MIA upgrades are a lot more expensive.

I'm not sure about the 10% frequent flyer discount can be used though. I know that you can use the Frequent Virgin Club 10% discount on flight upgrades (one of it's few remaining benefits IMHO)

You will need to sort this fairly soon as well as PE availability sells very quickly on Florida flights especially MIA flights.

Be warned they might try to slap you with a £30 change fee, that they did to me a few years ago but when I pointed out the UC upgrades were not just a little pricey and they were making a lot more money out of me they 'checked with a supervisor' who agreed it didn't make sense and waived the 60 quid

On the occasions that I have added a service with VH they have never added a charge - they will do this if youmake a change to something - i.e. a different hotel or removing something like tickets or a tour.

If you book direct with VH

You will get frequent Virgin discount on the upgrade, they will not charge you a change of booking fee, but a normal upgrade price is £245 approx one way.

I am not sure how Funway can upgrade you for £140[:I]are they telling you right?

I have just checked my booking an VH will charge £140 per person round trip upgrade tp PE. Flying to MCO. Can anybody advise if I can use FC miles for these upgardes?

Hi fontyflyer. No - you'll not be able to use FC miles to upgrade a VH economy ticket to PE - BUT, at £140 RETURN, that's a very very very good deal in my book. [:0]

Remember though, you will EARN 150% (+25% silver bonus) mileage on those VH PE tickets if you get them, too.

I have just checked with VH about upgrading to PE to MCO - apparently there is a promotion running but only for people who booked their holiday after May 2006. I think this is a bit unfair to those passengers who book early! The current price to upgrade in £195 each way.[:(!]

You also have to watch the t&c. I upgraded our outbound to St Lucia yesterday to PE and the true cost was more than the nominal upgrade, as taking the upgrade lost me a whole bunch of discounts that had previously been applied to the booking.

The VH agent was very good about explaining this before I made a commitment, and in the brochure it does say something to the effect that the upgrade is on top of "normal" economy fares.

I'm also waiting for my upgrade to be relected in the VA "Manage Your Booking" page - anyone any idea on how long this will take ?

To answer my own question...I waited 36 hours, on the working assumption that it may take time to flow between systems, and then when 9 am Monday rolled around the system had still not been updated called the FVC who resolved it in 2 minutes.
