Hello,

Ive just seen on a picture of the UCS on a 343 that the table looks different from how i remember. It looks like it comes out of a holder rather than actually being the side of the UCS lifting up. (If that makes sense).

Is this a recent thing or is it just on the 343's? Ive beeon UCS on a 346 and only remember that unlike the 744 there isnt enough room to push the table forward to get out of the suite.

The new table is a recent change to the UCS and does allow you to exit (at a slight squeeze) from the smaller suite on the Airbuses. It's also, allegedly, more reliable. I believe it will be retrofitted -- I have certainly seen it on the A340-600s delivered recently.

They have this type of table on the Air NZ version of the suite.

I'm still not sure whether it's significantly better. ANZ have had their fair share of trouble with theirs - doing things like "popping out" of their own accord, and getting stuck.

In their "guide" on the features of the seat, there is a warning about the table, advising you to tell the crew if you have problems with it, and noting that (yet another) table design is being worked on.

They are better I think. If they do go wrong though you do have to be careful that you dont get your fingers. It does hurt. I know

Ow!

The problem I had was when we hit some turbulence, table popped up and with seatbelt on it was a bit of a bugger to get it to go back in its hole.
