Last year I booked 2 MPM fares to NYC, and when I completed the booking, it said I would earn xxxx miles and mentioned nothing about the 2000 miles per person deduction in miles. After travelling I was still awarded my 4 TP's and the full amount of miles.

I'm now looking to book LAS in Nov, the normal N fare is coming out over £500 where the MPM fare is under £300, but it still says nothing about a miles deduction and also says I will earn xxxx miles (about 5000 so the equivalent of a N fare) What are my chances of not being deducted and still earning miles with this fare?

Does it ever say on the VS website when booking anything about the 2000 miles deduction, and also surely it shouldn't say you WILL earn miles when you won't?

I hope you get when I mean!

Well as a rule MPM fares do not earn miles.

I would be inclined to give it a shot if I was you,if VS makes an issue of it you are just a person using THEIR site to book a flight.

The VA site states clearly that you needs to use miles to book a M+M fare. I just checked LAS for November and an economy fare is £292 plus 2K miles. If you go on to do a booking it states that you will earn no miles.

Are you sure your booking for NYC was definitely a M+M fare - if it was then I think you were just lucky, miles have been deducted within 24 hours of my booking these types of fares.

I once booked a Miles plus money fare and later received miles and Tier points for the flight ( althoughthe 2,000 miles were also deducted ).:D

However the terms and conditions on the Miles plus money booking page of the VS website clearly state :

11. No Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles and tier points will be earned on Miles Plus Money fares.

17. 15,000 Flying Club miles will be debited for each Upper Class round trip Miles Plus Money fare; 7,500 Flying Club miles will be debited for each Premium Economy round trip Miles Plus Money fare; and 2,000 Flying Club miles will be debited for each Economy round trip Miles Plus Money fare. This is applicable to adult and child (2-11 years) fares.

And if they didn't state the mileage deduction wouldn't that make the 'miles plus money' fare a ..errm 'money fare?'

Thanks for your input.

Well I've just done a screen grab and this is what I get...

So do you think I'll be lucky and get away with it?

Something is severely broken, as I can't where it is calculating the 6530 miles from - bo combination of N,Y,W,J & Red/Ag/Au results in that many miles for the LAS route.

If you have the screen grab and don't get the miles, then you could take it up with customer relations. They have the T&C's to fallback on in regars to MpM fares earning miles and TP's.

They really did sharpen up the system in regards to MpM fares earning miles and TP's last year as it was gettign severely abused. Retrospective removals were made.

Thanks,
Richard
