Using 2 accounts to book?

How do you about doing a booking for two rewards flights if you need to use 50k miles from two accounts?

Me and misses are thinking of a reward to LAX so we can go to Palm Springs. It would be 100k miles total but we only have 60k each so would we have to make 2 seperate bookings or can we combine the miles?

I tried asking Flying Club but gave up after 50mins on hold just!

I'd be inclined to book by phone to ensure availability. I'd be fearful that having booked one reward there was no more rewards available [:0]

Oh they come up as available for 2, but I couldn't see a way to combine mileage from mine and the wifes accounts.

You can write (not email) to get one of you authorised to spend miles on the other's behalf, I have this to be able to book with the Daught's miles. However, in my experience if you "pay" for 2 rewards from 2 seperate accounts you will end up with 2 seperate PNRs anyway. You can't combine the miles.

Andy, I have done this several times with my and my wife's FC accounts. You can't do it on line so you will need to call FC and explain, have all the account details to hand they can put a hold on the segments you require whilst processing so you won't loose the flights.

You can either pay for one complete round trip ticket with each of your accounts suppling the 50k miles required for each segment and then buy the other round trip ticket or you can use your miles to book both outbound or inbound segments the same way. I have never had a problem booking this way.

hi andy the same .the wife and i 2 uper to newyork a few months ago and ther was no prblem booking over the phone and takeing the miles from each of our accounts.

I think the only issue is that you both need to be around when you make the call so your wife can authorise the miles in her account

Or, as explained above, one of you can call beforehand and authorise the other to spend miles from his/her account.

You have to make complete transactions from each account though. For instance, you can't book something costing 50k miles by using 40k from one account and 10k from the other.

That would be a sensible precaution although, I have to say, that on the last couple of occasions I have done this, FC were happy to trust me! [:w]

Excellent! Not too much a biggy that we can't combine some miles as realised last night I have enough for Economy Outbound and PE Inbound but the misses is 9000 short. May just have to buy the 9000 miles for her as still works out massivly cheaper overall. Would have been nice to use the remaining 20k of my miles on this but looks like you say, you can't.

Just too add. Booked the flight last night. They would only let us use miles from each account as expected so had to buy a few miles for the misses. But apart from that £129.40 each for Y out and PE back to LAX. Well happy! Palm Springs here we come!

Reading between the lines and doing a bit of maths - you had 20k surplus and your wife had 9k deficit on a Y out PE in (62.5k) trip.

Could you not have paid for the two outbound Y tickets from your wife's account (around 52k available) and the two inbound PE tickets from yours (around 80k available)?

No they wouldn't let me do this. Had to pay for a complete round trip on each account. Spoke to a couple of people at Flying Club and this is the only way they would let me do it.

Anyway, I'm happy now, got a dirt cheap holiday which I wouldn't have been able to do this year otherwise.

I'm a bit confused. I was always under the impression that you could book both outbounds on one account and both inbounds on the other - Bazz earlier in the thread mentions this and the online booking engine will also allow you to do this by booking two one-ways with different accounts.

I'm still really happy you are happy Just a little concerned that you might have been even happier.
