Fooloish question I know but...

I'm planning to fly with bmibaby with a mate to Alicante over the Summer from MAN before flying back with either them or another airline. I know its a daft question considering they are a LCC but what are they link in general?

I've travelled on easyJet and Jet2 lately and they've both been great for the price, and have a flight booked with Monarch Scheduled in July to Faro.

We are also thinking of paying the £15 to access the bmi lounge there as advertised on bmibaby's site, and again can anyone comment on this?

Many thanks!

Note to mods: If this should be in the bmi section my apologies!

i think you just have to remember what you are paying when you go on any LCC.

If you want top class service then they are not for you, but if you just want to get there then LCC's are great.

I was very happy with bmibaby, it did what it said on the tin and that is all i want

I've travelled on bmibaby a couple of times - the last being from ORK to MAN and back last August. I've found them fine and one advantage that they have over Easyjet and Ryanair is that they assign seating. I think they charge if you choose your seating when booking, which I didn't. However the fact that there is allocated seating means that there isn't the usual scrum to get on board. In every other way they were fine too and I was more than happy with them

I flew witn bmi baby earlier this year and found them also very good - And as honey advised you can book your seats rather than the "free for all" on Ryanair or Easyjet.

Even if you don't book your seats it is still assigned at the airport

I have used bmibaby for 2 return flights, 3 out of the 4 legs were late departing (one by 5hours!) and the other one was cancelled leaving us stranded in France with no more flights that day, and surprisingly customers services could not have cared less when I made my complaint.

It not only reconfirmed my dislike of LCC but has also meant that if I have had to use them before then bmibaby did not get my business.

Interesting comments peeps!

I have to say having used LCCs a lot over the last few years I have become accustomed to not expecting much. Short-haul I only want a seat and for the flight to be on time (with a meal, IFE, extra legroom I consider luxurious now), long-haul is where VS comes into the frame.

When delays come into play (as Neil unfortunately found out) I am aware that the LCC's don't give one

Nothing's booked yet for the trip, and it was my mates idea that we fly bmibaby (and to pay to get into the bmi lounge at MAN) which I agreed to since I haven't flown with them before, hence my post.

I'll keep you all posted on what happens cos I'm not sure yet how long I'm joining my mate over there (and what dates but its sometime in July/August), and if its a cheaper option may well end up flying back on my own on a different carrier on (maybe) a different day.

Never had a problem with BMIBaby and used them several times. In fact - I have never had a problem with any of the LCC's - I've had more issues with BA!![V]

I've used them a lot, mainly to vist aged rellies in Spain and shopping trips to Scotland -problems to date include luggage not being loaded (brought by car to the villa the next day) and one delay of about 8 hours (crew going over hours and new crew being rounded up and flown down)but they did give us refreshment vouchers (twice) after I collared the duty manager. In the main they've done what they've said they would ie get us to where we want to go in reasonable comfort for a reasonable price.Seating is allocated so no 9.8 second sprints - my only grizzle now is that they charge for loaded luggage.Booked far enough in advance there are some good fares but near to departure these can be greater than the non- LCCs.
