JetStar JQ 53 Melbourne to Hobart 2105 03/11/06

Tried to get a flight with DJ but no availablity at the reasonable priced tickets until 2200 so other half found flight with JetStar.

Check in was straightforward at a desk with an agent (no kiosks or OLCI) - and for the first time in Oz we were actually asked for photo ID. Seats had been selected at booking and after cabin bags had been presented and weighed the boarding cards were issued. We had 29D & E on Airbus 320.

After a drink and a bite to eat we headed off to the gate and waited. JetStar use the Qantas wing of the terminal. We were called to board at 2045 - boarding card consists of two 'supermarket receipt's one of which is taken by a flight attendant and thrown in a box as you go onto the airbridge. Even though the flight was full everyone boarded quickly and we sat. After a while there was an announcement that we were missing threee pax. They counted us about five times and then asked if passenegr X was on board to identify themself - which they did. Then more waiting and the captain announced we were one missing and they were trying to work out who it was and if they had any checked bags. Eventually we set off - however no one boarded.

Grey leather seats - quite comfortable but no leg room - I'm only 5'8'' and I was uncomforatble. No IFE but drinks and snacks could be purchased. Most alcohol was $6 a go. Only a 60 minute flight so over quite quick.

Landed quite roughly and a lot of reverse thrust used and then we had to do a U turn on the runway as we had passed the slip! Apparently this is normal. We then pulled up at Hobart International. Shouldn't mock but it is a very small airport with no airbridges. Apparently they have interantional charters a couple of times a year. On the plus side off the plane and in the car in 3 minutes flat.

Overall not bad - seemed a bit comic that they didn't know how many nor who was missing. But crew were friendly and efficient. Would probably fly with them again in similar circumstances.
