In-Flight Food/Drink

Hi all! What is the food like on VS flight now? Haven't flown with them for 4 years! Do you still get ice creams mid-flight? And do they still give you little Virgin Coke cans - that you can drink in one gulp??!! Any reviews/comments on the food & drink would be most appreciated. Flying a week on Thursday to Orlando - can't wait!

Last time i was on VS metal it was certianly those small cans of Virgin Coke, Virgin Tonic etc...

Virgin Atlantic must be the only customer for Virgin Coke! And those cans are way too small.

United supply nice big cans of Pepsi. And Starbucks Coffee. They win for beverages in my book.

Yes you still get an ice-cream on day flights.

I do find the quality of food on board to be great, although the portion sizes are small. Main course squashed into a little margerine tub, tiny salad that is really just some greenery with balsamic vinegar and a little wedge of cheesecake/chocolate cake.

Food-wise, I've always found it tasty, and the portions are ok, even for someone with as big an appetite as me That said, I do usually eat in the lounge/airport before the flight too

Canned Drinks - ummm, I can't remember the last time I had a drink on board that wasn't one of these four: vodka & tonic, beer, water or orange juice

That tonic would surely have come in a "Virgin Super Small Can" and tasted a bit dire compared with a delightful Schweppes, no?

Good question on the can - I can't remember - I think it does in Economy, but ISTR that the drink's served pre-mixed in PE & UC - maybe the alcohol's clouded my memory As for the taste, well, the tonic's only there as a small diluter, and I've never particularly thought of Schweppes as "delightful"

Outbound flights from UK to US in Y and PE now serving;

Chicken with pasta, Beef Pie in the sky or Vegetable curry.

KIds meals have improved greatly ex UK, so call VS res to book ur kids meals(DO NOT BOOK VIA TRAVEL AGENT)

Afternoon tea is a Cookie and either cheese and pickle sandwich or Tuna and creme fraiche wrap!!

Im flying next month with Virgin and wonder if the above will be my meal selection to MIA?

I think the food is more than okay - when compared to other airlines ecomomy offerings. My only niggle is when they run out of the first choice.

Our household is the other customer for Virgin cola - we get through gallons of the stuff and prefer it to coke and pepsi

If you ask when they are dishing the drinks out they are more than happy to give you couple of cans,if one is not enough.

In economy and premium economy, the meals change once every six months.

And on flts ex the US, you now get a choice of chicken in a white wine sauce with rice, braised beef with mashed potato or pasta in a tomato and olive sauce

On the whole the food on VS is good.
My two favourites are Veggie Pasta, which I had JFK-LHR two months ago but the best has to be the Chicken Tikka Masalla, much better than quite a few supermarket ready meals I've had!

Agree that on the whole the food is good but when I am spending >£1000 on a PE ticket I think that it is not unreasonable to have something a bit more than Y meals. I am not suggesting that the meals should in any way approach UC. However, what this 'extra' should be I am not sure but there should be more to differentiate PE from Y.
