Doesn't quite say when, other than 'soon' though... [:?]

The Hoxton Hotel

London's innovative new business hotel
The Hoxton hotel, where urban living meets country lodge lounging, opened in London on Friday 1st September 2006. With roaring fires and cool cocktails, Frette linen and flat screen TVs, sumptuous duck down duvets and free WiFi and amazing bar & restaurant the 'Hoxton Grille'. Even more amazing are the cheap rates.

Close to Old Street tube and the City of London, The Hoxton provides easy access to Moorgate, Finsbury Square and Liverpool Street and is staggering distance from some of London's best bars, restaurants and clubs. The Hoxton is a no smoking hotel.

I'm thinking of a night there a couple of weeks hence anyway. I'll hold off booking for a couple of days on the chance of a bargain.

Anyone have any luck ? I couldn't get past 'server in maintenance' / 'page can't be displayed' errors before finding all rooms gone for my wished for night. And to add insult to injury, I can't even book a standard rate room for that night now (sob).

I didn't hold out much hope as my requirement was for one specific evening when we're at a concert at the Roundhouse, and of course I'm now kicking myself for not saying sod the cost and booking yesterday.

Sale's back on...just received this email

'Good morning,

With rising energy prices, the alleged credit crunch and lots of rain, we thought we would try and brighten up your day by letting you know that our next £1 sale will take place on the 24th January at 12 Noon.

We have 500 rooms at £1 and 500 rooms at £29 available; that's 5 rooms each night at £1 and 5 rooms at £29 available every day from the 1st February to 30th April 2008.

During our last sale, in October, we made some improvement to our on-line booking system but, sadly, it is still not perfect. Please bear with us Ð we continue to work with our technology partner to make the system easier to use.

To make the sale as fair as possible, you are only allowed to book one room, for one night at £1. If we find anyone misbehaving, we will cancel all their bookings.

In previous sales, we have had over 200,000 people trying to book these rooms. We are expecting a similar amount of traffic during this sale so you may not be successful. However we still have other bargains available including:

á Rooms for just £79 over the Easter weekend

á All Sundays in June are currently just £30

To help make the process easier and to try and reduce confusion we have provided a clearstep-by-step guide of how to book (click here for the full details.) The quicker you are the luckier you will be...

All the best for 2008.'

Another £1 sale from http://www.HoxtonHotels.com

'The 11th April at 12pm (UK Time) marks the official start of our next £1 sale.

Once again we will have 1,000 bedrooms up for grabs on our website: 500 at £1 and 500 at £29, for dates between the 1st May Ð 31st July 2008.

During the last sale in January, we sold all 1,000 rooms within 29 minutes and had over 300,000 people trying to book so you'll need to be quick... If you don't manage to get a room at either £1 or £29, there are some other great deals available including:

¯ £79 for rooms over the May and August Bank Holidays
¯ Rooms in August available from just £30
¯ Friday & Saturdays in September Ð only £79

Remember, there are limited quantities of rooms at the above rates so book early to take advantageÉ

To make the sale as fair as possible you are only allowed to book one room, for one night at a £1; if we find anyone misbehaving they will lose all their bookings Ð sorry, those are the rules.

To help make the process easier and to try and reduce confusion we have provided a clear step-by-step guide of how to book. Study hard as the quicker you are the luckier you will be.'

I tried and tried and failed - each time I'd get logged out. But I did get a £29 room for mid October, which will be nice.

I stayed there last week, a nice friendly hotel but already some bits are looking tired.
But the staff were great, there was free WiFi, light Pret breakfast (although we went to the restaurant instead) and fresh milk (Not UHT!) in the fridge. Of course, at £29 it's a bargain, had I paid their rack rate which is around £200 I would have been seriously questioning the value.
