I've just found out that I've won 2-4-1 return flight to NYC with Silverjet in February! After reading the post below I'm starting to worry that it's going the same way as Maxjet (I saw two of their sorry-looking planes parked on the fringes of LAX just after Christmas and would hate to think I might end up like the poor stranded passengers!
If things go well, I'm really looking forward to the trip and was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the seats - I'm not expecting a UC suite, but what are the chances of getting a decent kip?
I'll be working until 3am on the morning we fly out, catching the 06.40 Easyjet flight to Luton from Belfast and (hopefully!) getting the 10am flight to Newark, so I'll be ready for some shuteye!

There is a fairly old, but long and informative thread about Silverjet here, with several contributions from Silverjet staffer - peartree.

At this stage I don't think Silverjet will be going the same way as MAXJet. The airline has recently received extra investment from some big banks and companies in the City and the airlines financial results and loads to date have looked healthy. Despite the rumours posted on other threads, which need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

MAXJet fell down on advertising a product as business class that was really PE. Coupled with some poor sourcing of a/c lead to disaster. Silverjet's link up with Thomsonfly for its fleet has ensured that the fleet has not had many technical issues.

The product seems excellent as well and have seen many good things written about the seat so am sure you will have an easy time getting some shut eye.

Silverjet are great. I've flown them. The beds aren't as good as VS Upper but the service is fantastic and the terminals are great if you can get your head around going to Luton. Check-in is dead easy. They're going through a bit of turbulence with the share price but I think and hope this is just in the wake of Maxjet going bust. I never flew Maxjet but by all accounts they were nowhere near as good as Silverjet and that was probably their undoing in the end. As you say they were PE not really business class. Silverjet definitely does what is says on the tin, low fare business class, and there are some aspects I actually like a lot better than VS or BA.
