Love the excuse by BAA:
'But BAA's corporate affairs director Tom Kelly told the BBC, 'This is an airport which was designed for something like 45 million passengers - we have now got 65 million.'
Did I miss a beat here, or have BAA been running LHR for an awful long time and have sat and watched this happen; as they were too busy listening to the De La Rue Notecounters counting out their retail revenue.
LOL. All that noise has made them deaf.
click, click, click. ker-ching!!

I often ruminate on these sorts of news items ... whether or not you think one airport is better than another depends entirely on your experience in traversing to it, through it and away from it. Being privileged to use the Virgin Upper Class Wing through to the Clubhouse my experience is pretty excellent ... another thing I like about Heathrow is that if you get away from the gate on time, there's usually little in the way of taxiing delay. These two things actually make it a pretty good airport for me ... but that probably puts me in a category of less than 1% of BAA's customers, I pity those who use T1 or T2 regularly (although T2 has never seemed that terrible to me) and those stuck in the windowless scrum of general T3.
Is it really Europe's worst airport though? Then, compared to some in the world (and I could pick out most Indian airports, O'Hare, Dubai and JFK as being my particularly disliked airports) Heathrow works pretty well. Of course, against the very best it doesn't hold its own, but they are relatively few and usually completely newly built.

I tend to aggree somewhat with slinky. I hardly see that much of Heathrwo when I fly out of there any more. Usually pop out of the CH for a few minutes to look round the shops, get bored in five minutes then head back.
After spending a few hours at BOM (at least with somewhat limited lounge access) I now realise how good LHR is.
If nothing else I always know I'm going somewhere far away if I'm there as BHX takes care of European flights [:)]

Have to say, what a load of sh*t. He might want to check out his own back yard before bleating on about others.
JFK - It snows EVERY year, they NEVER have enough icing/snow removal equipment.
IAD - Playschool buses between terminals, anyone?
LAX - Need I say more? [n]
