I mentioned on another subject that we were flying to Manila in August and that we have been offered cracking prices for BA F via Hong Kong. I happend to ring our agent and asked about SIA F and of course the price was wild but their J price was a bit cheaper than the BA F . Now I am thinking which would be better? BA F or SIA J on the A380. I am ver tempted (even though the trip will be longer) to go with SIA just for the A380 experience alone but am I mad not to avail of the BA first class price? Any suggestions guys to help me make a final decision,

Well i've never flown either so I can't talk 'from experience.' However, given the choice i'd rather go SQ J on a brand new (quiet) A380 than F on an old BA 747, the service, food and entertainment are all likely to be better from what i've read. Also you'll earn VS miles and TPs on SQ!

Can you use the Clubhouse when travelling J class with SIA?

No I believe it is only when traveling in the First Suites or First with SQ.

Personally if I was you I would go with SQ J. I have heard very good reviews of it, the product looks fantastic (huge seat, lie flat, massive PTV great food) and you can expect the usual high standards of crew service. Plus you get to fly the 380.

I am not sure about BA First, but I seem to recall LRoM and LSoM were not bowled over by it when they went First earlier in the year.

You can use the VS Clubhouse if you are on a VS pre-fixed SQ J codeshare flight though I think, ie you book the SQ flight though VS to SIN to get a VS flight number on SQ metal.

If you were going when BA get their new F product, I'd say go BA, but that's not till next year I believe, so I'd probably pick SIA if only just to try the A380. Some people say BA J is better than F if you get the new seat. [?]

I prefer BA FIRST and like locutus said the new FIRST is not due to be unveiled until 2009 although what I have heard about it from reliable sources make it sound like a great improvement on the present one . I prefer FISRT to the new new CLUB WORLD - the service in FIRST and the seat IMHO is much superior to the J product and the T5 Concorde Room has to be seen to be believed - it is truly like a 5* boutique hotel from the private cabanas (which we have used) to the truly great restuarant and lounge, bar & terrace area with superb service thrown in so give it a go if you can. The elemis spa (open to club pax too) also offers great treatments which are bookable on the day but as a FIRST pax you should get preferential appointments.

I never knew that. Am I also right in thinking that Suites passengers can access the CH. Wasn't Howard the first Suites pax to do this!?

Now I am totally confused on that to do - Thanks for your ideas guys - think I will just toss a coin on same - As a matter of interest , if I was to be flying J out with SIA abd returning F would this get me into the Clubhouse

oK I have booked J class with SIA on the way out on the A380 and in F on the 747 on the way back.

Totally agreed.

The point here is personal attention. With F you get it, with J you're just like any of the other 70 pax.
