I've been price-watching for flights next May, checking standard and M+M fares.

Last week the cost fell for the first time since the flights became available. But the M+M fare was higher than without spending the miles. I phoned to query this and the lady was as puzzled as me but the system would only give her the same fares. She said she would pass the query on.

Today I see the prices have fallen again but still the M+M fare is higher. I could understand if no M+M fare was available, but can't fathom why it's offered at a higher rate.

MPM fares quite often end up higher than a cheap restricted or sale fare without miles. I am not sure why people want to book MPM fares and I can't honestly think of when I have seen a good MPM fare, especially as you don't earn miles or TP's with them.

I think there are times when they offer M+M fares that are a fair bit cheaper than N or X class, but as Neil says - there are a lot of times when mileage earning fares are cheaper.

M+M seems to me to be a great marketing idea to encourage infrequent fliers to sign up to the Flying Club, thereby encouraging brand loyalty without giving too much (if anything) away. [;)]

V-Flyer on the other hand is subtly different - trying to show members the best deals to be had that involve them parting with the least amount of cash. [;)][:D]

Since when did it do that? All I have done since I joined V-Flyer is gradually spend more and more on every holiday I book and it makes me want to spend even more[ii][:D]

Neil - you are leaving yourself wide open here. I can see the vultures circling with their Hull jokes already. [;)]

V-Flyers making derogatory comments and jokes about a fellow member, based upon the City they live in (amongst many other things)? I can't believe they would do such a thing[:?]
