Hi all

We checked in at Downtown Disney at 12.30.pm. It was very quiet just 1 person who was overweight in 1 of his bags and had most of the contents out on the tarmac trying to sort it out. That is where the fun started! I looked at this guy in shorts, tee shirt and flip flops, he was saying well i fly with you all the time and do you know how i am ??[:#] i looked closer and it was Paul Burrel (The Late Princess Diana's butler) . [:0]Well, this went on for 10 mins and in the end i said 'Come on Paul, i bet this never happened on royal flights ??'

He just at me, and said 'I wish I had gold tags like yours'.

Fun over, off to kill time before going to the airport.

Arrived early for the flight and had a meal in the hyatt airport hotel above the x-ray machines it was very very good, give it a go much better than the Outback

Through security very quick and off to the Delta lounge .

I was sat having a drink when my name was called and could I go to the desk . There was a Virgin gate staff on the phone asking me if i would mind changing seats (i had booked 9 A and 9K) there was a couple in 10A 10K that would like to sit together .

I agreed and was move to 10 A . more to come on that .

The flight was called we went down to the gate, perfect timing just as gold and Upper was called straight on after picking up the duty free ( stupid system ) and on to G-VROY

Welcomed on board by the FSM. who i knew. She has been on a few of my flights and she remembered me which is always nice also one of the cc i have flown with on 3 or 4 occasions said hello nice to see you again.

Captain said flight time of 7.25 and it might be a bit bumpy over new york as we were to fly over the last bits of a hurricane .

We left 15 minutes late .

After take off FSM came round with the normal hellos, do you know how the seat works? and anything we can do? etc.She gave out the amenity packs. They were PE packs,so sorry they had not loaded Upper ones . not good when you pay for Upper ,its the small things

She had a chat to me. Hows things? Nice to see you again . I was traveling with my Mum she said to her i was always well behaved when i traveled with them (a lie but it kept my Mum happy )

I had a few drinks at the bar and it was meal time. I sat down and the cc came to put the table up and the cloth on . She pressed the button ,nothing happened, we looked at it and there was a piece of duck tape across the bottom. She pulled the tape off and the table just fell on the floor, the couple across who i had moved for just looked and i said great choice to move, they said sorry. The cc said that they had not been told that the seat was broken .

I was offered to eat at the bar or PE behind was empty just a pilot dead heading home.

I sat in PE. While i was having dinner, which was not very good at all. I was glad i had had a meal in the airport, one of the cc came thought the curtain laughing i had to tell you she said the couple who you swapped with had just said to my mum it was so nice of you husband to move for us ( very nice indeed [:?] )

I was just finishing my very nice ice cream when they brought a cc from economy who had fainted she didn't look well at all. They covered her in cool towels and had the oxygen bottle next to her.

I said to the FSM that she could have my bed if she wanted and i would make do in PE. She thanked me but they would make her comfortable there

I went back to my seat said thanks to the couple across for saying about my wife ,they just blushed , had a few drinks and slept.

I had not ordered b/fast so i was woken up 20 minutes from landing just time for a quick cup of tea and a freshen up

Taxiing in we were told that, due to congestion at the terminal, we would be parking at an off stand ramp (really[V] )

As i was getting off i spoke to the cc who had been ill she looked a lot better which is what i said to her. She asked me if i was the person sat in seat 10 A and it was nice of me to offer my seat for her i said not a problem, but it was nice that the FSM had told her that i had offered . She also said she felt bad that she had let the team down. Nice attitude i thought.

The crew said goodbye and we were off on the bus. The bags came quick

Overall a quite eventful trip not one of Virgin's best. I thought
G-VROY was looking very tired and with the things that have gone off this week i can see were the facebook lot get there opinions from .

To me what make Virgin so good is the cabin crew they are always good and make you feel special.

What lets Virgin down is that they don't put much effort into looking after people outside of LHR. We have to put up with tired over used planes, no Clubhouse off stand etc etc

They have a loyal base of customers in the North i just wish they would show us that they know that from time to time

Sorry for the grammar and spelling, they are not my forte.

It is a long time since I have been to MCO, but isn't the Marriott off airport? I thought it is the Hyatt that has the restaurant overlooking the atrium?

The same said hired help attempted to check in at DTD at the same time as us a few years ago (when they only let VH passengers and UC/ Au use the service )using the exact same methods (huge overweight bags and DYWIA).Ground staff said 'No ,you're not UC/Au or travelling with VH. No ,we don't know who you you are. Goodbye'. The hired help blustered and puffed to no avail. Hilarious.

Great TR a worthwile read, thank you.

And a very kind person to offer your bed for the sick C.C [^][^]

Good job there was space in P.E. for you sit and eat?

If you complain to Cus Svc's they just pooh pooh your complaint and brush it under the carpet, maybe here's a few miles for your account!?

Thanks again

Some of us have been saying this for years - with monotonous regualrity according to some fellow posters [:w] But seriously, it really is time that VS invested some money in their Northern base.

Broken seat in UC - that should be an automatic 15,000 miles 'Customer Relations In Flight Bonus'- awarded on the flight!

Thanks for the TR

Great, honest TR. I fully agree with your thoughts on the MAN situation, we need better if we are to stay loyal to VA.

According to his book RB got the planes cheap due to a cancelled order, better get looking again RB or update these, they do look in need of some TLC.
