Hi all :)

I've found out a bit more info about the next lot of 346 deliveries. Details for 2005 as follows:

G-VSSH Sweet Dreamer Jan 05
G-VNAP Sleeping Beauty Feb 05
G-VGAS Varga Girl (eh[?]) May 05
G-VWKD Miss Behavin' Nov 05

There are 6 346s planned for 2006, 5 for 2007 and 3 for 2008. Interestingly the a/c delivered from 2006 look like they are in a revised config - 45/38/225 as opposed to 45/28/233. (Well I thought it was interesting anyway! :D)

Cheers
Alan

The "flying girl" on the front of the VS aircraft (does she have a nickname?) is in the same style as the paintings of Alberto Vargas http://www.sfae.com/artists/vargas/.

There was also Vargas art on the walls at the SFO Clubhouse when I was there 2 weeks ago.

Interesting about the orders with the extra W capacity. Nice move to try and match aircraft to high-demand W routes.

10 more seats doesn't equal exactly two rows though. I wonder if PE is getting it's own lav, and two "half-rows" which would equal 10 seats?

Cheers,
Mike

Nice one Alan, also info on your other post re-departed A/C.
Glad to see 4 new planes arriving next year. I was wondering how they would launch new routes like Mumbai or possibly Dubai with present fleet. Glad to see PE expanding. Presumably will get dedicated use of the lavs which are presently behind it. Wonder if they will change existing planes to more PE. Almost every flight I've been on has full PE, same on BA.

The only sad thing is that Virgin have not taken the opportunity it seems to increase the pitch between economy seats [:(]

Eventually this will start to effect passenger figures. As much as I like VS, I would NEVER travel economy with the available leg room, if I have to travel econ, then its one of the airlines with better pitch even though the journey may take longer.

Once again alan you are the man!

Just done some research on 'Varga Girl'- now Alberto Vargas is an artist (as mike says!). There is a book and film called 'Varga Girl' about the works of Vargas and yes the flying girl on the side of the VS a/c is based on the work of alberto vargas so that it is why its called varga girl- varga girl is our sexi friend on the side of the a/c! Here are some other examples:

It is interesting - not just in where the extra 10 PE seats are coming from but also as to where the 13 in Y are going.

If they lose row 31 & 32 (except A & C) then that would be 12 seats - allocating this to PE would harvest the required 10 seats to rows 22 & 23 - although there is some legroom missing here somewhere. I guess the dedicated washroom is a taken - but the 346 I was on yesterday already had one at the rear anyway.

Hi Mike/Will

Thanks for the Vargas info (I'm right uncultured me!:D) I thought the original design was known as the 'Scarlet Lady' but that's obviously before she got her Union Jack 'clothing'.

Hi AlanA

Sadly extra seat pitch in Y doesn't seem to be something which is being considered. It has been suggested before but the response was that pax who travel in Y are only interested in cheap fares, ie they might moan about it but if it's £20 cheaper they'll put up with it.

Everyone

I don't know how the revised seat-plan will look or if the other 346s will be re-config'd but it's nice to see more PE seats. I'll keep an eye out for a revised layout but i dare say Pix will get it first! ;)

Cheers

What routes will these aircraft be used on? Will we see some shuffeling around?
