Hi all,

Flying out on SQ317 on Thursday, just tried to do online checkin (48 hours before) and failed. Phoned SQ and they said call VS as it's a VS codeshare ticket. VS said online only opens 24 hours before on the VS website and it may or may not work for codeshares!

Can anyone shed any light on whether the VS online checkin will work tomorrow or whether I need to be at LHR extra early on Thursday to get a decent seat?

My experience in these sorts of situations with different airlines (ie United flights operated by LH) is that the LH record will have a different PNR. What I usually do is call the issuing airline (for you presumably VS) and get the other airline's PNR (which they should be able to see). In other words, VS ought to be able to provide you with the SQ PNR for your flight. With that, you might be able to online check in with SQ.

I was certainly able to check in and get seat assignments for the LH portion of my flight ten days ago using this strategy. Hope it works for you here.

Thanks MM - I called VS and asked them that and the answer is the same, because it's codeshare there is only a single PNR

That's surprising - recently on a codeshare we had a Virgin PNR AND a Singapore PNR
