So I've been back and forth to Boston a few times in the last couple of months, and finally my itinerary worked out that I could get a flight with VX.

Booked just a few days ahead, I had to take Main Cabin Select on the outward and Main Cabin on the return. But I was on business, and the expenses were being charged to another department, so I took one for the team [8D].

Did the usual early morning trek from Napa, amused myself watching the slow adaptors, spending way too much time in line because they don't have Fastrak to pay tolls on the bridges.

Park SFO got me speedily to the International terminal at SFO, where I went to bag drop having used OLCI. The agent then sent me to the back of the regular line! Saying I needed to check in with the agent out front. When I spoke to the agent she said what crap and directed me back to where I had been. What's the point of OLCI and bag drop, if they don't give a break on the queue. At the podium I asked if there were any upgrades available. I guess I speak too quietly [:(!] because she just handed me my documents and that was that.

Grabbed breakfast at the Firewood Grill - excellent. Highly recommended.

Headed to the gate where I was able to upgrade for $100 to First, an offer I found difficult to refuse.

Once onboard I had a great flight, the food was excellent, service was friendly and very attentive. The IFE is excellent and totally free in First, a great plus. But about halfway through Quantum of Solace, the screens all went dark, as did my chair controls, leaving me in a rather unfortunate position, pretty much horizontal!

The staff did all the usual things, with of course the final reboot for everyone coming last. The result was that we did eventually get our power back after 45 minutes or so.

The FA then brought slips of paper for each of us affected with a $200 credit! I love new airlines who are trying hard to please. On VS you have no entertainment in Upper for a ten hour flight and they give you 10k miles, same kind of $ value, but the money credit just seemed much better.

Also I love that IFE is available the entire flight, even before you take off.

A couple of days in Boston saw us in possession of a new company, and so I headed back to the airport for the 6:10pm flight back to SFO.

Getting the upgrade for $100 and then the voucher for $200 must have made you feel very happy indeed[:D]

Your view on the food would be greatly appreciated as I will be taking a transcontinental in the not too distant future

thanks once again
