Air Canada - from Heathrow

Hi,
Looking at going to eastern canada this year as it looks like such a great place. comparing flights to either Halifax or Toronto, Air Canada and BA look like better options opposed to the cheaper Air Transat or Thomas Cook. My question to you is if you have been to eastern Canada is it worth a visit? which parts are best to visit? Halifax, Toronto or St Johns? and also does anybody know if Air Canada still operate there seasonal Heathrow-St Johns Airbus A319 service? because I've heard its very good.

Toronto was awesome we went up the CN Tower and had dinner in the revolving restaurant with great views of the entire city, went to the blue jays stadium and watched Les Misrables there too if thats your thing?
Went to Niagra which is one of the best places i have ever been too!
Went over the river and travelled to Pittsburg and Salem which was a fun road trip.
And stayed at a ranch just outside Hamilton in Ontario still and went horse trekking.
Hmmm i think you should go!

Definately go. I have been to Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa and enjoyed all three cities.
Last time I flew AC to Toronto on their first newly delivered 777 that had seatback IFE. Unfortunately, we came back on an A330 which did not.
I am not sure if they still mix aircraft types but it is worth checking.
If visiting Ottawa, check out the stall selling 'Beaver Tails'. They are scrummy. It's not what you might think so look them up online.[:D]

Yes Toronto is a fab city with loads to do for all ages. A trip to the harbour islands is good value and the views iof the city are awsome. The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) (with its new crystal extension) and the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) are both excellent.

Niagara Falls is possible in a day. I prefer to get the VIA raill train from Union Station to Niagara Falls - rather than go on an organised tour - then its a good long walk or a taxi to the falls area but path that follows the gorge is very pretty. I'd avoid going into the town part as its very tacky.

I'd also recomment Ottawa which is about 4 hours on the train. Its veryu different as its much smaller. Take a tour around the parliament building and you can then go to the top of the peace tower. THe National Gallery and the Museum of Civilisation (across the river in Humm) are both world class.

I would definately recommend East Cost of Canada. Went in 2006 and flew to Quebec City and then got a 10 day train pass and made my way down to Montreal, Ottawa, Kingston and Toronto. Would also second all the recommendations so far although I was a little disappointed by the Parliament tour - queued for an hour for the tour which then only lasted half an hour!

If you are traveling to Toronto I would also recommend hiring a car and going to Niagra on the Lake particularly if you are interested in wine. There are plenty of vineyards to visit, one or two with great restaurants and plenty of opportunity to sample varieties of the locally made Ice Wine which is one of the world's great desert wines.

I'd second Niagra on the lake, it's a beautiful little place.
I'd also back up the suggestion of hiring a car, we've done the Toronto-Niagra Falls & Niagra-on-the-lake drive, it's easy. We also crossed the border and drove on to Cedar Point them park, Ohio but that's another story!
