I think that Virgin will do sometihing big with the livery, like paint it bright red or something.

I know G-VHOT was at KLM Engineering in Amsterdam a couple of months ago for heavy maintenance, I'd have been surprised if it didn't get paint during that visit, like WOW did? HOT's paint was looking decidedly tired before the trip to AMS.

Does anyone know if HOT came back from AMS with fresh paint, or existing paint? (There's been no photos online since it's come back from AMS, and it's been pretty much 'captive' on LGW-BGI since then.)

That would probably help answer the question of whether or not the Filton job is a full repaint, or just new decals on the existing paint.

As people have been talking 'days', sounds like it's just decals to me.

yeh will certainly have to be something big for 25 years. And knowing Virgin should be a sight to see.

Well she is at Filton currently and the boys down at Filton normally do a pretty good job (they do the VK aircraft and have repainted the 343s that have left the VS fleet into their new operator livery).

I wouldn't be surprised that as its a one off livery, if the designers didn't 'trust' the guys at KLM to get the work done correctly, I may be incorrect (and am sure Denzil can shed some light) but I would imagine KLM can do your bog standard repaints but arent specialist enough to do special liveries which require new decals etc. I would imagine the guys at FZO are the people who designed the livery also.

I am hoping for a retro livery- so the original VS livery. THis would make sense as VS have released a Gemini Jet in the livery as well.

As a side note I bet anyone driving along the M5 got a shock as a 744 flew over. The runway at FZO is in a slight dip and not entirely visible from the M5 but the end of the runway their is literally about 50 meters from the hard shoulder of the M5!

How about recreating Maiden Voyage.

That's exactly what I was thinking, a real retro job to go with the advert [:)]

Thanks,

KLM did do the 21st livery on FAB, but that is the standard VS mica paint with the special oversized Varga girl and special tail decals. They've also done the KLM retro livery on the 737. So they are capable of doing great quality specials.

I wonder if the paint shop at FZO were responsible for the original livery? If so, it would be a tremendous sense of occasion to have FZO do a retro scheme on HOT.

Having flown into FZO in a light aircraft with a friend, and flown that approach, I'll bet they got a surprise! [8D]

(Sadly, I doubt our DA40 would have made quite the same impression...)

Cannot wait to see what comes out of the hangar at FZO.

I must admit I was half expecting that VS would be placing the 25 years logo over the varga girl on all the aircraft but nothing seems to have come of it.

I sincerely hope that VS do not just pull out a G-VFAB type livery.

Retro is the way forward without a doubt.

Just seen a photo on http://heathrowcam.net/index.php?page=1 ... 047&mode=1 landing at 16:01 today.Pretty certain it is VHOT.

Look like this has not happened. Standard new livery repaint I'm afraid. Something special would have been nice, but I guess two special schemes in a small fleet not a great idea.

I think they'll have Richard Branson as a painted lady on it. Oh yes.

Comparing the photo above and the last one on A.net the only difference I can see it the removal of the purple banding around the tail and a curve to the front edge.

The pic was definitely of G-VHOT positioning back from FZO, and it looks like it received the normal version of the current VS livery.
