Been looking for availability for end April/beg May next year. Extremely limited, to say the least. Miami is ok, but of course les central and presumably, MCO is an hub they have more demand for. That said - is it likely that any more reward flights for MCO are likely to be made available between now and then? Or am I shooting the breeze????

Good luck with that one. G rewards are like gold dust, we struggled in Feb/Mar and April/May are more popular. PE rewards are a little easier but still really difficult, especially with PE being very popular on this route. I would seriously consider MIA and then either a connecting flight up to MCO (30 each and 40mins flying time) or drive up. We are having to fly in to MIA in October as this was the only way to get any G rewards.

Neil is right they are like gold dust...so much so that I have just booked Mr Sunshine a G ticket to JFK in UC and am paying for a Jet Blue flight down. IF you have set dates there is no point waiting and my first choice had already gone for May 2010 to JFK..... It's an alternative choice to MIA and saves the drive.

The other thing is that if you are going UC, you get to use the LHR clubhouse, Revivals and also more likely to get a vPort plane (although not guaranteed).

Did likewise with our last trip - out to JFK and back, plus an internal down to Florida.

One thing to remember - the baggage allowance on the internal sectors[:0]

Definitely take what's on offer now unless you are VERY flexible with your dates.

It took me weeks of looking twice a day every day before I managed to get two Gs from MCO for November this year. Getting the outbound to MIA was much easier and fortunately what we wanted.

Thanks everyone - it's pretty much as I imagined then, but good to get the experience of others.

jetBlue have one way fares from either JFK or EWR to Orlando, Miami, Tampa, and Fort Myers starting at $69 this winter. Your first bag is also FREE [:D]

Have abandoned Gatwick these days and now I get the 20:10 flight from LHR to Newark and stay at The Springhill Suites for a night near the Airport at a cost of $69. Then spend the day in NYC before catching the 18:30 jetblue flight to Orlando!

Bizarrely it works out cheaper than going direct and you have the option to extend your time in New York if you want.

Thanks,

Andrew.

Both JFK or EWR are my airports of choice for Orlando or mexico as G seats are always available and connections are cheap and frequent at NYC, also you use less miles and get clubhouses at both ends, just make sure you get both flights on one ticket as thunder storms at MCO have a habit of making you miss your next flight.

cheers

Guess we were lucky as we got 2 G's for November to MCO this year, although we looked pretty much on the 1st day available.

I have some internals coming up and have only just got around to checking the allowance, was pleasantly surprised at SouthWest who allow 2 free bags. Am flying LHR-JFK with Virgin then EWR-LAS with Continental (luggage charges have just been increased) then LAS-LAX with SouthWest and finally home LAX-LHR.

I'm not averse to taking an internal flight, as suggested, it's just the extra travel time it adds. Always seems to end up being so much more than you figure it'll be, even allowing extra!

my only concern with goin jfk is the vastness of the airport. Would somewhere like washington be better or boston etc? MIA is OK but the drive up kills us. I just wish VA flew to tampa would make things much easier

You can always fly up to mco from mia, only a 45min flight and only about 30per person.
