I have firmed up my favourite seats on the 747 over the years but have only ever flown on the A340 once. Last time I went for 3k as it was as far from the bas as possible.. Now I wasn't a big fan of the a340 due to the dormitory but did like the 'facing a wall' concept for privacy.
That particular flight was the most turbulent I have every experienced and I have a theory that sitting so far away form the wing (and centre of rotation) causes the effects of turbulence to be exaggerated.. Is this just me over complicating things or is there a truth?? A friend of mine flies the A340 for Virgin and didn't know the answer, although he did say the had a massive Yaw sensation in the cockpit which would make sense..
I;ve got a flight to San Fran on the A340 coming up (really not happy that it's not a 744) and wanted to get your thoughts on the matter - I'm tempted to sit further back to try it out...
