Just been chatting with a friend flying to Orlando tomorrow who was saying she hadn't realised Virgin had removed the meal service in Economy. I've pasted her confirmation below and, sure enough, it states meal service 'none'. This has to be a typo...surely?

Cheers
James

Def a typo as there's definitely still lunch, ice cream and afternoon tea served on the flight.

I imagine it will have something to do with the fact that it is booked through CO, and maybe their systems show it incorrectly.

You have just reminded me actually Tink about ice cream. I was not best pleased about the ice cream being removed from the UC service to be replaced by those god awful truffles, especially when Y & PE still get ice cream. The CC member I was talking to at the bar said that she god in trouble for getting a UC pax an ice cream from Y on her previous flight, which sounds all wrong to me, surely there should be some sort of choice for the pax paying the most.

Sorry for hijacking the thread and having a rant, but it had totally slipped my mind as I was going to put it in my TR.

I'd assume it'd because it's not ticketed by VS - codeshares et al are always a little screwy

Well the new menu cycle starts on 3rd December so hopefully ice creams will reappear then as the truffles were only on the last cycles for the 25th anniversary.

There is normally plent of ice cream left over in Economy and Premium so should never be a problem tracking one down for you.

Ice cream (& no truffles) served in UC on MAN-MCO two weeks ago.

Makes sense - truffles would keep - ice cream would not.

We flew outbound on the 29th Oct, LHR-MIA it is was truffles, which were really awful, so no sure if it was just LHR that had the change or if ice cream is now back full time.

Should have only been truffles - sounds like some ice cream from PE/Y made its way into J.

As mentioned ice cream should be back in the next menu cycle which starts next month.

Doesn't it say none when you don't specify a meal type?

I quite liked them, not the best you understand but it was the salty caramel pearl thingy that strangely tickled ones fancy.

Ah - but it was one of those MAN flights with a really good crew.[^]

Only 14 of us, so they can give that extra service. [;)][:w]

And obviously 14 people in PE who didn't want their ice cream! [:p]

With 450 on the flight (only 1 empty seat!) they would be working rather hard down at the back.
These LHR crew don't know how easy they have got it.[:w]

ohhh no, I didn't like the fact the runny stuff inside shot out when you bit in to them, it was a really weird sensation.[:$]

Who fancies the job of telling an entire Y cabin that they are not entitled to a meal...?

An 'Alive' moment beckons.
